Golf Strength TrainingPosted by Downtown Devin Brown

Does anyone have any programs that would be particularly beneficial to a golfer or possibly even a golf-specific program?

TPI is specific to golf.
You need to strengthen your core and posterior chain while keeping mobility to increase speed. Also rotational movements like vertical and horizontal med ball slams.
All of the compound lifts besides probably bench press (which wouldn't necessarily hurt) are going to be beneficial. I would jerk over strict OHP to create force though. Accessories like the med ball, pulling through your body with cables, RDLs with a kettle bell are good.
You can find plenty of stuff online for free, tons of Instagram pages and things like that you can use as resources.

You lift before? In general last thing most need is sport specific.
Just make sure you work a ton of flexibility and cure very specifically anti rotation.

I do greyskull (long and very good thread here on it) and golf a good bit. Its certainly not tailored to golf, but all the movements will help you.
I also signed up for ROMWOD to supplement it, but I had major flexibility / range of motion issues. And still do

These last 7-8 years of lifting has trashed my golf game.

Nah. The more I added muscle, the more my swing path was altered. I wasn’t playing enough the last 7-8 years to counteract it.
Playing TPC LA in 2 weeks. Gonna be a shitshow!

Yea It will do that, if you learn to control it and harness it, it helps your game. Got to focus just as much on mobility though.

You can’t just add muscle, that will be a killer for golf. If I didn’t do the range of motion stuff I’d be stiff as a board. The lifting helps with explosiveness, but you’ve gotta do the flexibility / recovery work.

I still have pretty good mobility.
Lats and triceps are jacking up my swing right now.

My golf swing is at its best when I’m doing yoga a few times a week.

I second this. Also hit the ball the farthest when doing so. Good ole Adrienne does wonders.

check out realgame.athletics and dr.joelseedman_ahp on Instagram for some interesting sport-specific exercises. They'll have some rotational and swinging movements that you can plug in to your current routines.
He's got hops.
