Has anyone tried the new Vivosport? I'm looking at a fitness watch for Christmas and was comparing this versus the fitbit charge 2 or an apple watch. I really think the Garmin is a much better value but wanted to see if anyone has used one yet.

Gonna tag along this thread. Looking for one that has GPS and HR that is good for a cyclist around 100.

I have a vivosmart HR+. I like it. Battery lasts pretty long even when using gps everyday on runs. The only thing that seems wacky is the stair counter. Sometimes I will be sitting on the couch and all of a sudden it tells me I hit my stair goal for the day. But I don't care about that feature anyway. The Garmin app is nice too. I enjoy using the alarm clock function and sleep monitoring

Coworker had it. Went to the Apple Watch. Then went to the new Fitbit. Said the Fitbit was best one.

out of the midrange, i've heard nothing but good things about it. better than a fitbit charge, but probably not the ionic.

as far as comparing it to the apple watch, that's like comparing a good hunting knife to a swiss army knife. the garmin is going to be better at pure fitness, but the applewatch is going to bring a lot more to the table outside of fitness.

My vivoactive HR was super cheap refurb and I love it. I turned off all the goals and alerts. Paired w my phone apps--i use just the Garmin app and Strava.

Customizable screens for activities. When I'm running I have HR, pace, distance then with just a quick swipe go to elevation, time of day, avg pace, swipe to temp, timer, ascent, etc etc. I charge once a week on ave.

I'm addicted to Strava segments and PRs.

Haven't used for cycling or swimming. Going to use skiing this season.

hello 3nout. cookies and coffee are in the back. help yourself.

my next level of Strava addiction is running the exact route the previous CR-holder ran, when I take a segment.

e.g., a .3mi segment and then a .8mi one are part of a 5-mile route I do all the time from my house. I do a warm up mile jog and then sprint the .3. took the CR out of 577 people and then broke my PR. The .8-mile segment is straight uphill and I pretty legit took second. I don't feel bad about that one. but the .3 mile sprint...

i started looking at the routes the top-10 ran that included the segment, and it was a lot of 7 to 10-milers with the segment somewhere in the middle or even at end--at solid paces throughout their routes--and I felt like i was cheating. because...i was.

addiction is nothing if not self-deception!

bitch please... i travel for a living. before every trip i spy out segments to snipe.

i've only got about 3 in all my attempts, but i've made top 10 in quite a few.

i have a park behind my house with a perfect .25 loop and a .5 mile stretch that's a hill a few streets over that i made some segments on just for myself. set them to private and then saw that i was KoM against about 10 people so i went ahead and made it public.

we actually had this argument on Texags. it's not cheating if you actually did the work. i mean if i looked at a workout and saw that you only ran .3, set a record on a .3 segment then i'd think that was a bit douchey but you still actually ran it.

as an aside...

we do have this one segment out at our trails that's a quarter mile down a 11% decline on a rock trail. dangerous AF. when we're doing our weekend run we'll all stop at the top and try to sprint down it. i feel like i'm about to die each and every time. this week one of our group hit it in 1:07 (4:35 pace on a 7 mile run) which is absolutely stupid. but he did get his KoM trophy.

While you're in the run activity, swipe up on the screen.
