For those whose gyms have re-opened, what has changed?

Do you have to wear masks/gloves? Has equipment been spaced out?

Just wondering if things seem the same or not.

Have to wipe down all equipment that we touch.

Fewer people

Otherwise, feels great to be back in there.

about to find out.... my gym opens at 6 am today for the first time. This is the longest I’ve been out since I started lifting about 12 years ago.

No masks or gloves required. I think they are making people use every other treadmill/elliptical. Less people too, it seems.

Have to reserve my workout time because they limit the amount of people.

Wipe down more often.

Temp check when entering.

Mine opens at 6 as well, LA fitness. I’ve seen people saying they’re requiring masks but also seen that they’re not.

Same here LA Fitness in TX... no mask required. Had about 15 disinfectant spray bottles that the first people who arrived grabbed to carry around.

I was there at 6am and about 20 people were there at that time. I left at 7am and the gym had about 40 people with like 2 people wearing masks.

ETA: felt damn good to be back but strength has decreased

They updated my gym and added more squat racks while they were closed. Other than that, we are asked to wipe down after use.

Masks are not required. Everyone just wipes down equipment after use. Which is good.

- smaller class sizes with strict reservation policy (has always had reservation policy but wasn't very strict about it)

- now must also reserve spot during open gym times

- mandatory wipe down of all equipment used

Thanks for the responses.

I’m sure it’ll be different for a while but looking forward to going back today.

They were pretty strict about making sure things were getting wiped down before and after use for like the first week. Now its just make sure you are cleaning up after yourself. Its small so everyone knows everyone so they don't really care about doing the reservations and all that.

There's definitely more concern on being clean, but it hasn't been draconian either.

Limited class to 15 people and we end early to allow one class enough time to move out before the next class moves in.

At most, we would have 20 in a normal class, but keeping it to 15 easily gives people 6+ feet apart.

Everyone wipes down their shite when done.

Gloves that cover fingers were required for the initial 2-3 days of opening but no longer necessary.

Locker rooms are closed (including dry sauna, steam room, and hot tubs).

Reservations required for group exercise and limited classes available (expected to increase to normal in mid-June).

Basketball gym only allows solo or family shoot around, although games of 2v2 and 3v3 have started popping up with no objections.

Indoor and outdoor pools have some restrictions.

I’m only at anytime in Dallas. Nothing at all has changed except they have more cleaning equipment and signs and closed off every other treadmill or elliptical but left all the machines and dumbbells and benches the same.
