I was in terrible shape/health. The coronavirus hit, I decided enough and immediately took control of my health. My eating totally changed. Started running, working out. Couldn't get enough. I worked from home for 4 months. It was easy to workout, eat right, track everything.

Now it's like I'm back on that hamster wheel. Restaurants are open, social functions, actually getting dressed and having to be at work early. A year later I have more aches and pains. I've slipped but I'm trying to get back.

It seems harder to get where I'm trying to go than it did a year ago, and I was a total lazy frick then. I had lost about 30lbs, cut almost 3 minutes off my mile run etc. I'm kind of sick because I know those 4 months were primetime for me to get right. I got my mind right each morning with a 2-4 mile walk. It's harder to get up even earlier now to get those things done.

The china virus was a blessing in disguise for me, because I got myself in gear. Where I'm at now is where I was about a month in last time, I just don't know if I'll see the progress I did last year because of this damn rat race.

Now that my body is fat adapted I’m running and performing and killing all phases of my life like never before. I feel like I’m 20 again physically but I have a much better work ethic and sense of urgency now than I did at that age

Man that happens. Best advice I can give you is start lifting 3 days a week, run twice. And then try and hit you macros perfect sun-thurs. Fast on Friday until dinner if going out. Watch what you eat as much as possible on Saturday.

Hit total weekly macro goals.

Maybe for some people it has. I got serious about my health and fitness at the end of 2018(38 years old) and started some light cardio and lifting 5 days a week. Two years later I’m down 40 lbs and in the best shape since my early 20’s. I honestly don’t know why I waited this long. Probably because I was being lazy and making excuses.

That is basically my plan of attack. I got some miles in this week, a couple of lifting sessions.

The good news is I know exactly what I did last year thanks to myfitnesspal, my garmin, and pictures. I know what works and what I can sustain the best.

The bad news is my psoriasis has caused quite a bit of psoriatic arthritis in my joints. Mostly neck, elbows, shoulder, hips. But I'm switching meds and it should improve. I've used kettlebells the last two workouts and I think they are easier on my joints, quicker workouts, full body flows etc.

I'm 36, 230lb coming down from 275 jan2020 - most of it dieting. In December I started interval jogging 18-20 miles a week and a lifting program.

I feel like my body is fighting me every inch and it is an impossible journey. Aches, weakness, tiredness, etc.

Your not alone brother. I feel like I have to choose between dieing in my early 60s from something obesity related or living to my 80s fricking run down and miserable.

You’re four months into an exercise regimen. You have a long way to go in terms of reaching your potential and feeling the results of your efforts.

Also, it’s awesome that you lost 45 pounds but 230 is still really heavy. How tall are you? Unless you’re super tall, you probably still have 45 to go. You’ll feel superhuman when you get to a healthy body weight.

I hear you. I'm 43, with a 3 year old. Was 246lbs, now 224. I had gotten to 214.

On my way down to 214 when I passed 224 I was in better shape and looked better than I do now. Kind of proves to me the number on the scale isn't everything, although 224 is too heavy regardless. I'm 5'11".

I'm 6'0. My goal is 185-190ish, so I'm very realistic that I'm really only halfway. I do have a larger frame under the 30% bodyfat. I'm never going to be textbook BMI normal weight for my height, but I think if I can get to 185 that's going to be a legitimately healthy state.

buy a spin bike/rower/treadmill for home use

it really helps on days when you’re unable to make it to the gym or want to add more cardio to your routine

I feel like this, too. I’ve been consistently working out and eating somewhat better for 4 years. In the first year I lost 15-20 pounds.

Now I’m stuck, been stuck for about 2 years. I did have a good injury but adapted. My trainer told me not to worry about weight but how my clothes are fitting - and that’s going great but I just have some stubborn areas.

Is it really this hard for women to lose weight? Do I need more protein or something? I know I’m not 20 anymore but yikes.

It can certainly feel that way sometimes. I've lost a ton of weight and have managed to stick to ~100lb lost, but I look ahead and see that I need to lose probably 60 more and I just don't know how I'm going to make it happen. I know the science, I understand what needs to be done, but I feel burnt out as hell and don't have any desire to actually put forth the effort to get to where I want to be. I want to lose weight, but I put a lot of pressure on myself in my career and my family to improve myself in other ways, and weight loss has taken a bit of a back seat. I CrossFit 4x a week, walk 30m-45m ~6 days a week, track my intake. I worked with an RD and when I didn't lose weight at a calorie level I should've, they suggested I needed to exercise even more Even at maintenance calories I'm hungry all the time, when I'm in a deficit I'm ravenous.

My only advice is to just keep your head down and work. Even if all you do is maintain your initial results, you're better off than you were. You'll go through waves of determination and be able to fight again.

Damn Hulkk I didnt know all that. Props to you. This isn't something I'm just going to try for a little while and then move on. I had my only child a little bit later in life than most, so I am wanting to live as long as possible so I am around to see what she will become.

Dgaf about seeing abs, or how much I can bench. Just want to be healthy, in shape, feel great etc. Don't care what I gotta do to get there.

We all have to find what motivates us, how our bodies respond to certain foods etc. I can relate when you say you are hungry all the time. I tell my wife I know I was gaining weight because I didn't let myself get hungry. Now in the last week or so I have buckled down yea im hungry. I mostly intermittent fast 16 hours a day and that is what works best for me. Just being off limits to eating is my best approach. Got to keep going, can't fall back.

I’m 40 years old
5’ 6”
158 lbs
I look like I’m in decent shape. But I don’t feel like it. shite hurts. Elbows and one hip hurt and muscles (mostly my back) stay sore from workouts longer than I like.

What kind of mobility work are you doing?

Mobility? Nothing.
I don't do cardio either. I know I should. I think about starting biking sometimes.
