Anyone gone down this path? After a truly wretched experience on the toilet after eating pizza two-ish weeks ago (homemade, everything was fresh) I decided to massively cut back, especially with cheese. Only cheese I’ve had since is parm. No yogurt either. Only an occasional glass of milk. Gut feels better. Hasn’t been long enough to feel any other differences though.
Anyone else ditched the cow juice and have any positive effects?
I’m trying to sub in unsweetened almond milk, but it just doesn’t have the same nutrient density. Considering dropping cow milk and just going with the best available yogurt out there. I definitely think I don’t handle lactose the way I did my first 25ish years of life.

I used to think I had a lactose intolerance. I would shite my brains out about 4-5 times a day and after pizza I would no joke shite about 10 times the next day. I blamed it on dairy...
I started eating keto and quickly realized it was not the dairy causing my issues it was the carbohydrates. I eat more dairy than ever now and have never felt better.
Give keto a go and see if it helps to heal your gut.

2/3 of people are lactose intolerant to some degree. I eat very, very little dairy. A little bit of parm or feta cheese and a little bit of greek yogurt every once in a while. I substitute almond milk for the cereal I eat maybe once a month.
So, yes I am near dairy free and on the rare occasion I eat something like pizza all the cheese makes me feel shitty.

I cut back on the dairy and it cleared up my skin some.
I have a slight dairy issue it seems. 2 of my sisters have similar issues.

I keep dairy to a minimum unless I’m eating pizza or burgers
I put a sprinkle of cheese on my wraps
It helps big time reducing my bloating
Everyone is different though

My wife and I quit all dairy about 10 years ago except for cheese on occasional pizza and Parmesan on spaghetti. From all I’ve read, I am convinced milk is only good for babies.
I think modern dairy farming is awful.Cows never see the light of day, they are chained in a stall and their food is on a conveyer belt, they are milked 3 times a day and are given hormones to increase milk production. This increase their susceptibility to mastitis,FDA actually allows a certain percentage of somatic cells (medical term for pus) in milk.
Dairy cows used to be productive for about 20 years, now they’re burned out in 5 years and are made into hamburger.

I’m the same. I can eat it but it messes me up. So I cut it out a while back and don’t miss it.
(Still eat eggs though)

The only thing that bothers me at all is milk. I eat full fat yogurt, heavy cream, all types of cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, etc.
A2 milk is supposed to be better for some people who think they're lactose intolerant. And Fairlife lactose free milk has a lot less sugar than other lactose free milks and regular milk.
If I had a cow is drink straight from the teat (well almost).

Gone about two weeks without cheese except an occasional tablespoon or so of parm, I’m definitely convinced cheese is the main culprit for wrecking my bowels. Still been fine with a single serving of milk.
Haven’t touched Mozzarella, cheddar, etc, and have not had one of those immediate shite squirt episodes since.
Honestly kinda feel better without eating cheese too. A little longer and I might not miss it. Not sure if I’ll do pizza again. I like it. But I’ve had one too many experiences with bad pizza bowels, particularly if it’s pizza out at some place.

That's odd. Maybe you have developed a fungus/mold allergy.
Eta: or enzymes. I've always had the opposite--cheese has never bothered me. Straight milk always did.
I would try some elimination diet tests to isolate other potential culprits.

I’m not a vegan.I do believe that nature designed milk for the nutrition and rapid growth of babies of all species. It is unnatural for adult animals of all species to ingest it.Then you factor in the modern method of dairy farming I’ll take a pass.I loved cheese, yogurt, ice cream and milkshakes as much as anyone but I decided it wasn’t worth heart disease, prostate cancer and other maladies associated with dairy intake.Reading about the amount of pus the FDA allows in milk made it fairly easy to give it up.
As far as meat,I believe humans evolved to eat meat but not factory beef with marbled fat and antibiotic residue.Likewise,we were not designed to eat the diet we have with the copious amounts of sugar, salt and refined grains.
I eat eggs and fish also.Point is I’m not a tree hugging granola eater as you seemed to imply but I do believe the vegan crowd make some very legitimate arguments for their dietary habits.

Since when does dairy=cows? I guess you forgot goat cheese in your quip. Feta comes from sheep's milk.
Some people have issues with eggs despite not being dairy.

Some people that have problems with dairy is because it has been pasteurized and homogenized. Raw milk is a lot easier on the digestive tract because it has the probiotics in it that are wrecked to make it safe.

Will you link these epidemiological studies? I agree re: pasteurization and other processing being bad (or less than ideal for digestion and nutrient absorption), but I highly doubt what you're citing re: heart disease. And most cancer is so difficult to tie causally to any one thing, I doubt that too. And why would humans stop at the nutrient-rich milk of an animal. I understand that other animals don't have the tools etc to milk an animal, but I don't see a strong evolutionary argument against milk.

antibiotic residue.
I'd like to read more about this too. I've read conflicting reports about "antibiotics" in meat and what they could possibly do to humans who eat the meat.

This is absolutely true, except the salt part. I guess in the context of eating shitty sugary foods w tons of salt, but big recent studies are showing the current low- sodium guidelines are bogus. This is especially true with a sodium-shedding diet.

Hmm. I missed this implication. Certainly not intended.

I don’t know why I would ever get into another of these threads about diet,it’s a never ending claim-counterclaim scenario.Like trying to argue religion or politics.
There are studies that will support any and all arguments one would care to make.I’ve read a lot about dairy and all the studies that show it to be beneficial are authored by “scientists “ with financial ties to the dairy industry.Sometimes,it takes some digging to find it.Others such as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietics, which controls education and licensing of dietitians, tries to hide the fact that they receive significant funding from the dairy industry. They also receive funding from Coca-Cola,Kellogg’s and other food companies. As does the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society.
This is purely anecdotal:there is a couple up the road that think my wife and I are full of shite the way we eat. They eat lots of beef and dairy,we don’t.They eat lots of vegetable and beans but they season them with lots of sausage, bacon, ham and salt pork.My wife doesn’t.They are exactly our age,she had breast cancer and he has occasional episodes of kidney stones. We haven’t.They are both on blood pressure, cholesterol and anti-arrhythmic medications(he has atrial fib,she has problems with tachycardia).
We take no meds.It could be a genetic thing but I doubt it.My wife’s parents had significant health issues as did my mother. My father-in-law would get triggered when I would talk diet and healthy eating but he had by-pass surgery when he was younger than I am.He subsequently died of colon cancer. My wife’s sister and brothers still eat as they were taught and they are all physical wrecks.
A book I like is RETHINK FOOD-100+ DOCTORS CAN’T BE WRONG by Castle &Goodman. It is biased towards vegetarianism which is ok in my opinion. We tried vegetarian diet but couldn’t hack it,beside I wasn’t going to shoot deer and give them away.
