Check your form thread

This is a thread to check form on any lift. The goal of this thread is to help others and not brag. I think a 65-70% of max/speed would be great and a corner angle if possible.
I'm going to figure out how to cut my video and make a gif or something.

I'm uploading a sumo and conventional deadlift of 405. I think my conventional needs work.
sumo
conventional
Excuse the socks and shorts lifted up. Bar tears me up and needed powder.
And the fatness..... I'm strength bulking..... So seafood diet.

Thought I was missing some fine minutiae of lifting.

Conventional looks good to me. I'm 6' 180 and just got a PR last week and 405 is new 1 RM
You got the weight up a lot easier than I did

To me it looks like I'm making it look like a 2 part lift. It looks too long of a lift. Maybe chest up?

On conventional, i think maybe you straightened your legs a bit too early, forcing more of the lift on your lower back and making the lift look longer.
But you made that look way easy

The only thing my untrained eye can see is that he when he first started the leg push the shoulders did not go up also. There was like a teeny tiny delay. Is that an issue? idk those types of things. I'd have to watch professionals to see if it is just deadlift things... It happens at the very start so it is the weakest part and he doesn't have to worry about that part in the sumo lift.
If I do a very heavy deadlift I almost always have that problem but it is more pronounced. And I mean that to the extent of it being problematic for me. Hu's is hardly noticeable, and I don't know if it is even not normal

I agree. Nice observation.

I am no expert my self, but try getting tighter at the bottom of the left. I watch a ton of Silent Mike videos on youtube which has helped me a ton.
I tried the rocking method like you are doing, and I found my hips were shooting up and I was basically yanking on the bar.
I was starting to low, but once I brought my hips up a little I found I was able to sit back and get my hamstrings loaded and back tighter, less rounded.
I also stand as narrow as possible with my grip on the inside knurling. I use a mix grip so just for clarification my pinky is at the start of the knurling on one side with ring finger on the other. That also shortened my ROM.

I have a tendency to start too low, too. Kind of a natural clean position. I didn't know this until I started going to CF and had the coaches watching me, but basically you are describing what I've been learning, too. If I don't sink my hips as much as I naturally want to, I can better load up some tension on the ol hammies and it's helping me off of the floor.

Nice lifts, Do you do any Olympic lifting?
Side videos are easier to check form too imo

Nope, not yet. I wanted to earlier this year but am focusing on powerlifting.

Yeah, I need to do a side video.

You should try it. You’re generating some big time explosiveness there. You’d do well if you have any kind of coordination & a little bit of flexibility

I try to get tight but just can't find that feeling in conventional. I can get it every once in awhile and the weight feels lighter but just can't get that cue to stick.

Yeah, I've got none. Lol
