something with creatine and the other post workout additives? I typically haven't been a big supplement guy, but I've been training twice a day so going to try to add creatine and post workout recovery, but I dont really know if that is something that comes together or what brand to get. I'm imagining theres something like a fitaid type product out there with 5g creatine and other stuff in it that comes in a powder. Id rather buy and make it myself so it'll be cheaper

Let me hear it

Protein powder and creatine for me. I eat skinny cow ice cream sandwiches with that for simple carbs and to indulge what sweet tooth I have (honestly, not much of one).

Post workout nutrition timing is overrated. Getting some carbs to replenish glycogen is fine, but the biggest thing with protein is to have as close to constant availability. If you eat protein right before, timing afterwards is way looser.

Yeah I know that, I typically don't need protein powder as I typically eat plenty. And I know creatine monohydrate. My question is more, is creatine sold as creatine only or is there some blends that include other post workout supplements like leucine and all that jazz

There is some positive research with leucine, but I would never buy a blend.

For creatine (or really anything else) to work, proper dosing matters. Buying raw stuff and dosing yourself helps with that, and it is generally a good bit cheaper.

Also, if it says proprietary blend, run for the hills.

I haven't tried the reload but I buy a tub of the creatine every few months. Good price, good company that does 3rd party testing on their products.

Nutrabio creatine

Creatine mono mixed into a half gallon of chocolate milk. This would be especially good for you to put some meat on your bones.

I'm good on that. One glass of that is more sugar than I intake in a day

My current routine is

Breakfast - 1st lunch with preworkout and ZMA - Weights - 2nd Lunch with Nuun electrolyte tablet - 300 calories of LISS - Dinner with 5mg creatine mono (straight to the dome) and a sport Multi

Minimum 30g protein per meal and I attempt to front load my carbs.

I’m on a slow cut right now. I’m 195 @ 5’11 and have been leaning out while getting stronger and adding mass slowly. Strength gains are outpacing mass gains but that could be due to programming

All this and I’ve been in a slight deficit eating around 2000-2200 calories

Transparent labs sells a big bag of creatine for like $20 on amazon. I can’t remember if it’s one Tsp or Tbsp equals about 5g because I just left the scoop in the bag a long time ago, but I take one scoop of that per day and have had no problems.

I ended up getting my protein plain creatine and BCAA's because they were 45% off. I know the BCAA's are in protein, but like I said I rarely use powder because I get plenty from whole foods.

I'll still look into other stuff, i just went ahead and ordered that because I got 125 servings for like $40 total

The creatine was $10 for 2.2 lbs (200 5g servings), the BCAA was like 25 for 125 servings and it was $5 shipping.

What's the point of taking creatine post workout when it takes days to get your levels up or down?

Also ZMA, the M is for magnesium which is amazing for better sleep. Take that before bed, not post workout.

It doesn’t matter when you take it, but likely post-workout you’re having a protein shake or something along those lines so it’s easy to add creatine in.
