So GCF is where you usually go? How’s their pricing? The one I’m currently at is 100 per month so if it’s around that I’m cool with it

Unfortunately, no.
There are 3 options:
1. $120 for 10 classes.
2. 6 month membership: Payment upfront
3. 12 month membership: Payment upfront
If you go 2-3 days per week, the punch card is the way to go since you will be around 10x per month.
The reason for the upfront fees was this. Originally you signed up for month to month, 6 months (paying monthly) or 12 months (paying monthly). The longer the membership, the lower the monthly rate. Paying a month to month (breakable at anytime) was $145/mo, 6 months was ~$130/mo and 12 months was ~$120/month.
People would sign up for 12 months to get the lower rate, and would decide to stop coming a few months in and just close their account/CC. It’s a huge hassle for a small business owner to fight that BS so they switched to payment upfront for the 6 and 12 month memberships.
I’ll get the exact rates for you if you want.

May be a stupid question but I don't know much about crossfit other than a few documentaries but,
If I joined a box would I have to do kipping pull ups to make the WODs?
That would depend on the box and your strength level. Some would try and teach you kipping right away, those boxes and coaches suck. Good boxes would evaluate your strength levels. If they felt you were strong enough they would teach you kipping and encourage small kipping sets during the wod only and program strict pullups during strength sessions.

No.
I think the rates went up with the move and a standard month to month would be $160.

Agreed. I guess people got grandfathered in on month to month bc I still get hit monthly.

Good luck attracting new members when you tell them the only way to sign up for unlimited is to drop near $1k off the bat

yeah, upfront is ridiculous. The punchcard isnt a bad option for a new crossfitter (2/3 days a week) but just for a member switching gyms I'd look elsewhere.

There have been tons of new members. They still offer $165 month-to-month on the website.

I would hope so but I was just going off of what Alum said

That is. I don’t like that at all. I get 100 taken from my account the 15th of every month. Works well. And I go 4-6 days a week.

165 a month is kinda ridiculous

I believe to get a discounted rate for 6 or 12 months, you have to pay it upfront.bSorry for the confusion.
My yearly cost was $1428 ($119/mo) upfront.
$165/mo is average. Iron Tribe goes up to $250/mo.
Some are lower and some are higher, but GCF has more class times and open gym hours than every other CF gym in BR.

That's a little high but not out of the realm of normal for CrossFit gyms. $100/mo is abnormally low.
RSCF is $150/mo
Ruckus doesn't have prices posted online
Crossfit BR is $150/mo
Crossfit Denham Springs is $140
Upshot is $150
Slingin' Iron doesn't have prices posted online.

Before the move, Slingin was ~$110-$120 or so. If you are (or were) in the Military, PD, FD, you get a 10% discount.
My guess is Justin bumped up the prices after the move since he built the new gym location from scratch.

165 is about par in New Orleans. Prob a little bit on the lower side when talking the nicer gyms

Geaux is the nicest as far as facilities go. Everything is brand new and it has AC.
The few things it doesn’t have: SkiErgs and Trueform/Assault Runners.

I pay the nice $75 student rate here in Houma. Month-month is $125. 3 month is $115 a month
Crossfit crabtrap opens in Thibodaux in 2 weeks. $85 a month. Student rate is $50. A lot cheaper than Momentum in Thibodaux.

$150 a month here in Metairie where I go if you pay month to month, I think I pay $140 a month with a 6 month contract.
