Is doing 40 reps at 225 lbs for a 18 year old normal. Saw a kid at gym doing it yesterday. He asked me to spot him.

I don't see why anyone would do that unless they were prepping for the NFL combine.

I was more of a heavy weight guy at 18

I would do 20 reps with 450 lbs

He's a little behind where he should be, but other than that not too much wrong

Offensive linemen at the combine don’t get 40 reps at 225. Y’all miscounted something.

There's been like 20 dudes at the NFL Combine to ever do this so I'm sure this happened.

That pretty damn good. Lael Collins did it 19 times at the combine.

I always did 225 reps of 40 at 18 but I was going for tone not bulk.

I was working at a gym which made it easy to train all the time.

I don’t have a lot of pure strength these days.

Sure but that's not the Bench press combine.

Someone who puts a lot of focus on bench press can do that especially if they have the right body type.

No they can't.

I bet you haven't seen the inside of a gym in at least a decade.

Yeah, it kind of is. Linemen do Bench press all the time and weigh 300+.
