Lol no it is definitely not normal. If dude is really doing that at 18, he definitely has a future in some type of powerlifting or strongman competitions if he chooses to do so.

Most I’ve done is 22, and my max around then was 335-340.

I did 23 when I was projected at 375 a year ago but they were comp style not combine.

Certainly wouldn't call it normal. That's a ton of reps. What's the kid's weight?
I used to do it every year during the week of the combine just to see where I compared. It didn't matter other than giving me something to work toward each spring.

Same last time I did that I hit like 22 and my max was probably around 340-350

He was listed at 275 last year. Told me he about 285 now. Coaches want him about 280 when he gets to camp.

anythings possible. just not normal.
I don't work out with a partner and dont have a spot so I can't really go to failure. I tried this a few times after my bench sets a few workouts ago. I only got to 20 but that was after 4 sets and last set was 2 reps at 350. This is on a cut and i struggled. lol. Weighing 204 at 41 and natty
Also wanted to say you can have a pretty strong 1 rep bench and be shite for stamina and vice versa. Depends on how you train.
