Anyone use The Prowler for conditioning? What about knockoff prowlers?

Jim Wendler is a huge fan of them. As is Mark Rippetoe. I've been wanting one for years, but the price is up there, at over $500.

Elite FTS

But, I have seen knockoff brands online that are much cheaper. Anyone use any of these?

How much weight will you be loading them with? Unless you’re about to load hundreds of pounds, a knockoff will work fine.

Not sure. I've never used one, so I guess I'd start relatively light then move up from there.

i have a sled and a prowler. the ELITEFTS OG and Prowler 2 are the best but all are essentially the same. I have the one from Fringe. works fine

but i would say...if you are going to be on anything other then turf, their are things to consider

1) you want one that can be pushed or pulled. I had to drill out the hole bigger on the fringe

2) you want one with plastic skis if you are on anything but turf, especially for use on concrete or asphalt

3) if you are going to be on grass, you want one more like the rogue dog sled

yes4all makes a decent cheap harness to pull with, get suspension trainer knockoff from amazon for cheap for pulling

i will say, be careful with it, it will frick you up if you are not careful

similar to a yoke, could easily get prowler flu especially if doing suicides with it

but its an amazing tool for conditioning, great for lots of concentric only work, wont really make you too sore due to is being all concentric focused, great for athletes, great for explosive work too.

dont need to buy an expensive one either

About 10 years ago I built one out of 4x4s and PVC. It'd handle 150 lbs no problem.

It was pretty similar to this one LINK

It was really cheap to build, not sure what it'd cost today. I gave it away when I moved. I wish I still had it.

It'll most likely be on used on concrete.

then make sure you get some kind of plastic skis. most places sell them for their sled

if i was going to spend the money, i would get the Wheelbarrow sled from freakathlete so you get a loadable wheel barrel with its own wheel, a push and a pull sled. $299 and come with skis

Huge fan of the Kneesovertoesguy training and use the one in my gym often. My knees are bad and his workouts- primarily pulling the sled and mobility exercises- have done wonders.

those with knee problems will MUCH prefer to drag the sled vs. push it. Still get a great leg workout with minimal to no knee pain due to the mechanical nature/body position of dragging, so I would always get a sled that allows you to both push and pull.

Don't underestimate how quickly you can get to Prowler Flu with even 2 45s. In my estimation (I didn't own mine for long due to a move,) you can find a way to make yourself ralph with almost no weight using the right intensity and turnaround time. If you want to.

Don't spend a bunch of money on plates until you understand what you're getting yourself into. Get 2 40# bags of play sand from Home Depot for $6 each, lay 2x4s across horizontally, put the bags on them, and prepare to be humiliated.

Prowlers are fantastic and you can get in damn good shape using them. Can use these to train your legs if you choose are more into practical, non traditional training. **I am not calling barbell stuff unpractical**

I don’t have a prowler but I have a sled and a harness, works just as well in my opinion

agreed for everything but training acceleration work

prowler is better for straight up gassers too

I can’t argue that

Luckily I do enough gassing in my jiu jitsu rolls and the ski ergometer
