Anyone intermittent fast?

I've been incorporating fasting with a modified version of the Keto diet for the past 3 months or so.
The problem is I still have not got used to skipping breakfast. And at times is hard to get through the morning, as I feel low on energy. I was told in a pinch to grab an apple, which helps a little.
Do you fast in the evening or morning?

I do 16:8, skipping breakfast. I use an app called Simple to track it. It’s been easy for me because I don’t really like breakfast. My issue is coffee. I like creamer and sweetener. I’ve cut out creamer but I’m still using 1/2 pack of Stevia. It’s unclear if that technically breaks my fast.

I do a modified version of the 5:2 diet
2 days a week I eat nothing at all... 0 calories
5 days a week I do 23:1 where I eat once a day with a 1 hour feeding window

that's probably the most retarded diet ive ever seen on here. i don't know why people are intent on torturing themselves.

You get used to the fasting after a while.
I average over 4000 calories per day on the 5 days I do eat
Saturdays are free for alls where I eat whatever I want and then I fast the next day on Sunday to balance it out

That's terrible advice.

It’s actually good advice if he’s trying to cut calories until lunch. Apple is like 80-100 calories and fibrous

Yeah, but it's 25 carbs. That's an entire day for most people on keto.

I made my own lifestyle changes based around caloric restrictions that ended up being the same as intermittent fasting diet. I found if I ate breakfast I could get hungry at noon. If I skipped breakfast I would start the day hungry, drinking coffee and working makes that go away for a bit, I would get hungry at 10-11. Then when I got hungry I would "graze" with 100-200 calorie snacks/meals and eat the minimum calories it would take to not necessarily completely satisfy my hunger but curb it enough I could go another ~2 hours before snacking again. Do that 2-3 times before dinner and I would have ~1000 calorie budget out of 1500 calories left over for dinner and could eat a pretty nice dinner without much restrictions. My original goal was to push back my first meal as long as possible. If I was really hungry I would eat a little something and not starve myself. After several months of this I can now go until well past noon before I eat my first meal compared to when I first started I got hungry at 10-11. Don't look at it as a "Diet" look at it as a lifestyle change. I started at 203 in Dec and I'm now 158. Doesn't feel like I'm actively trying to lose weight any more but it's still coming off.

Yeah but it’s an apple dude. People aren’t getting fat from eating apples

Yeah no shite. You have someone actively taking control of their eating habits and being smart about their food choices.
But he gets shite on here for eating a fricking apple
I swear some of the people on here are douche canoes that get a hard on for judging others because they think they have it all figured out.
You do you bro. Eat that apple and frick the haters!

This. Find what makes you happy and puts you in a caloric deficit when you want to lose weight and within 100/200 calories +/- your maintenance caloric number otherwise and live your life healthy and happy.
It's not hard. And it's different for everyone.

My TDEE is 3100
Eating 4,000 calories is very easy. 4,000 calories of clean eating? Yeah that can be tough. But if its something like pizza, burgers, etc. you can go over 4,000 very quickly.
I downed three 14 inch NY style pizzas in one sitting last week.

20/4 for years, I don't on Saturdays or vacation.

He’s following a keto diet. Apples are full of sugar. More sugar than most people on keto eat in a full day. But sure, wreck the whole day on a morning snack.
He’s failing at fasting which if he has enough body fat should be very easy on keto once he’s fat adapted. Eating apples isn’t going to help him get fat adapted.
The irony of your 3rd statement is amazing.

he could eat one tablespoon of butter which is roughly 100 calories and straight fat
or he could eat an apple which is also roughly 100 calories
you think the butter is going to help him burn fat faster? which do you think is going to help keep him full throughout the day?

18/6 or 16/8 for the past 5 months. Lost 40 pounds in 3 months and have been maintaining weight for 2 months. I don’t eat before 1130/1200. I was never big on breakfast before and didn’t know shite about nutrition before May and believed the “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” bullshite. I do get hangry around 10-11 some days. Coffee is the key. 2-3 cups of coffee a morning keeps me going.
The most important and really the only thing that matters is your TDEE. Count every calorie.

Fasting only works because it puts you in a caloric deficit. Eat healthy and exercise (cardio + weightlifting).

Like I said, its a modified Keto diet. Other than 2 cheat meals a week, no starch, no simple carbs no processed sugar. But I generally eat an apple or a fruit with my first meal of the day, and have another fruit with dinner every other day. I weight train 3 days a week and do eat a protein and fruit before hand.
I am sure it could be better, but lost 20-25lb of Dad fat pretty quick and down closer to pre-Dad weight.
If I could I would do 6 hour eating windows a day, but my body doesn't seem to want to acclimate to that without feeling weak and nauseous. So 8 hours has worked better, with an occasional apple or bannana when needed.
