Anyone ever done dry needling?

I am having issues in physical therapy and she recommended we do some dry needling to get the muscle to release. I am kinda excited to see what this is all about. What was your experience?

Definitely helped loosen my calf muscles. I was getting a lot of knots when training for an ironman. It's not horrid 90% of the time, but every once in a while they may hit a nerve or something and it doesn't feel great. I had one time where my whole leg felt like it was on fire immediately. I never let him stick needles in that area again.

That’s my issue. There are knots they have been trying to get out for week and it just won’t release. Something with biomechanics has caused my calf to completely seize up

I had it. Not painful but didn’t help much either. Weird sensation.

I don’t faint at the sight of needles close, but I damn sure don’t like them. I was presented with the same as you during PT for my shoulder and decided to give it a try. That was probably the biggest difference maker in that PT. Would recommend.

Have had them in shoulder, calf, low back, and foot. Overall, it is helpful. Go to someone who has training in It. Pain depends on location for sure. I didn’t find shoulder or calf to be painful. Low back and foot didn’t feel too good.

Did acupuncture for persistent bursitis in shoulder. It’s the real deal. Almost instant relief after a month of aggravation. Results made me a believer.

I’ve had dry needling for a piriformis issue post-Ironman and more recently on my thighs due to overtraining. I recommend.
