Yep. There’s nothing more rewarding than getting your arse kicked for 3 months straight by the same people and not realizing that you’re getting better then absolutely smashing a new guy

But on a serious note it’s changed my life for the better big time. I haven’t had a single drink since I started and I’m so much more calm and happy, I’ve also made a lot of great friends in my gym and feel like I have a second “family”, and I’m not someone who goes around saying things like that often

ETA: the worst feeling is when you stop being a spaz and learn to calm down and use leverage then end up not getting 1% of the workout you used to. I miss that exhausted noob feeling

I have a second “family”

I have been training with my instructor for over 10 years and his son who has now taken over the school for almost as long. They are about as close to family to me as my real family which also includes many of our training partners at our school and sister schools. We are under Royler Gracie who runs the Gracie Humaita brand, although that brand basically is the trademark for all of Helio's sons since that was where all of them started in Brazil. If I see someone with a Gracie shirt or sticker in public, I almost always start a conversation and we will generally have a connection almost immediately. I am not sure any other martial art has the tightness Gracie jits guys have.

I love it. One of the best decisions I have made was starting and getting my kids to start too. Great workout. Great community.

I took my first class on Sunday. I'm sore in places I didn't know I could be sore, but I can't wait to get back.

A Renzo Gracie gym is opening up near me in August and I’ve already signed up to start there then.

They just announced Ricardo Evangelista as the head instructor. Dude is a beast.

You live in Summerwood/Atascocita? Saw the signs driving to work. Damn that would be convenient for me. Our school is in Conroe.
