How do you keep weights/racks/bars from rusting. My workout room may be repurposed, with my setup moving out to the carport.

Mines in my garage if that counts. Are you referring to something uncovered?

Covered, but open air. On a carport.

I bought a little plastic shed at Sams and keep all my weights and bar in there

I haven’t bought a squat rack yet, but when I do, it will be coated, so I won’t really need to worry about rust

I have a man cave and weights and related stuff are all indoors, but I do have a 100 lb. heavy bag and medium size speed bag hanging under my 2nd story porch from the floor joists. It is covered and not directly exposed to any rain, but the entire area on 3 sides is wide open.

My cage is powder coated. It's on a covered patio and in the winter I throw a tarp over it when not using it and I have some vinyl curtains around the patio. I live in a dry climate though so that helps a lot

I have a home gym on my backyard covered patio.

Reality is, I think it is impossible to truly weather proof things if you are keeping it outdoors.

I made my purchases in 2020 knowing that I was potentially going to have to replace them, so not too concerned with any residual wear/tear.

I keep more expensive items (ex: Rogue Echo Bike) covered with a tarp, but I have just let the rest ride and there is minimal impact.

For the Kettlebells, Dumbells, and Bumper plates..There is minimal impact. The only thing that I can visibly notice is the barbell, which I bought cheap for this very reason

Mine is also open air but covered. I bring my bar inside and make sure to dry and oil it often with 3 in 1. Bars are really the only thing I would worry about... even then I have another bar I leave out... and with regular oiling, its still better looking than most of the bars at my the gym i have a membership to.

Everything else I just dust and clean once a month. 3 years no real issues. My titan rack is on a platform and rep bench still look brand new.

If you're worried about plates rusting, paint.

Bands are stored in a bag inside.

I keep my rower, echo bike, spare bench and a lifting platform under my car port. Everything else is in the side closet of the car port, with no climate control. Everything has held up well, I think as long as you keep it out of the sun and rain it shouldn't be a problem.
