Don’t do it unless you can get a bunch of members. Enough to pay a really good coach or two. If you are thinking that you can get 100 folks and make a little money and work it yourself, Don’t. You will go broke and be miserable.

If you have 100 members at $100/month that's only $120k before any expenses. I honestly can't see how these guys make any money.

120 doesn’t seem so bad considering it’d be a ‘side hustle’ for me.

Luckily, My wife and I have enough time with our jobs to where it’s feasible but we’d have to employ a coach or two. Unfortunately in our area, we’re about the only two people who have ever sniffed CrossFit so it’s an uphill battle.

So you could MAYBE gross $120k, but you'd have to pay 1 or 2 people, buy weights and a building, pay the utilities on the building, and have what I'm guessing is a comprehensive insurance policy.

Again, I don't see how you could make any money.

Why don’t you just open up a place that specializes in soft tissue injuries?

What you mean? Just sell some ridiculously dangerous WODs as “functional” training and watch the money flow in. All you need is a rubber floor, barbells, kettlebells, boxes and a pull up bar. Don’t worry about buying a ton of weights. No one’s cleaning over 200 for 5 sets of 20 reps. Oh, and don’t forget the insta photos of some chick’s arse and catchy hashtag.

Do you actually have a legit business plan? You need to spend some serious time on this if you're actually thinking about doing it because based on your previous threads as well you're going to end up losing your arse.

And I'm really not trying to be a dick, just trying to give you real advice

I can't believe it is just out in the open like this...

What's the difference between jelly and jam?

As others have said, there isn't much profit running there. I'd look into supplements too. You could maybe make it worthwhile with that.

Good luck.

Your desire for a gym seems to be all over the place. You once said,

quote:

I started seeing a lot of PED abuse in the community. I really don’t care if people use, but I don’t think it’s fair to the other competitors who are buying into the ‘clean’ narrative that CF central likes to push. IMO they are selling their souls and abandoning everything CrossFit was supposed to stand for so they can sell Nanos, metcons, and get housewives to pay $200 a month for a membership that should cost $80. There’s this push within the community for ‘positive thinking’ and ‘doing things the right way’ and a lot of fake Christianity because people want to promote status and image. It’s become so yuppie and fake that it’s sick. But there’s an underlying culture of steroids and PEDs throughout the community.

I still have respect for some of those guys like Bridges, Fraser, Froning, Ben Smith, etc but I’d be willing to be that they’re all dirty. CF central seems to be turning a blind eye to the big names and slapping the no names with some suspensions to give the impression of transparency.

Then at another time said,

quote:

I don’t want it to be a CrossFit gym. I don’t really care to pay those affiliate fees and I don’t really like a lot of their training methods. I'd like to run a boot camp style operation (similar to CrossFit but safer movements) there’s no need for soccer moms to be snatching weight... But I won’t get all that.
