I’ve been lurking this month because I was worried about my knee but just hit a PR of 345. Was able to unrack 355 but didn’t feel safe going down so called it at 345. Was using 325 for my 1RM and 295 for my TM. So happy with adding 20 pounds to my squat this month.

Happy with my Squat PR went up to 415 (353 last year) and Bench PR of 287 (232 last year)

I climbed more gradually than prescribed beyond my TM, which I believe taxed me more towards PR.

Legs are heavy this morning. Hangover session today will be fun

I just squatted 405, which was what my max was set at. I might have had 10-20 in me, but felt like my form was breaking down a little bit and it was slow to come up so I called it. Not bad because I also lost 10 lbs this month without seeing maxes dip

Came down with GI issues from kids yesterday and wondered if I could do this but felt normal today

Hit a new PR of 235 (only 200 going in)
TLDR
In 2023 I lost 30lbs as a skinny fat 35yo realized I needed muscle for longevity.
Started lifting in January (never lifted before) slowly progressing not trying to hurt myself. I’m small and prone to getting fat so did around maintenance for a year and gained 10lbs felt great.
Unfortunately hurt my foot and could put no weight on it from mid July to early Sep - this month was my motivation to get squatting again and it’s been awesome.
This board has been such great motivation and community. I’ve got a long way to go but I’m in it for life.

Love seeing the results everyone - hell yeah! And this quote in particular sums it all up:

but strange that a bunch of you internet strangers can motivate someone to do it & stick with it.

That’s what this place is all about.

Finished the Hangover this morning using new max.

It was a lot harder than the rest of the workouts this week. I opted for 5 SS of 20 with pushdowns, EZ bar curls, and DB shrugs. That was pretty brutal. My HR stayed pretty high throughout the whole workout. Most importantly though...

WE DID IT!

Squatober done. Didn't miss a workout, avoided any major injury, made gains. What else could you ask for? Shout out to PPSA for a great month of free content.

Congrats to everyone for staying engaged and motivating each other to keep bending those knees. Thats what this board is all about and the positivity and support makes it one of the best. Back to the other PPSA thread until next year I suppose!

Benchamin Franklin 2 starts Saturday for me.

I always plan my weights before going to the gym. Looking at everything I had written down, I expected today to be an easy auto-pilot sort of day. Boy I was wrong...

Fully completed the workout (even though the gym's power went out, music stopped, and roof started leaking due to a major thunderstorm), but it was much tougher than I anticipated. 5x5 squats were slow and steady with some burn. Close grip bench was heavier than expected so I didn't progress up in weights like I planned. By the time I got to the deadlifts, I had to just make myself get it done. For the cardio I went 4x25 SS of skullcrushers, EZ bar curls, and DB shrugs. Again, I just had to make myself get thru the last set. I'm going to spend the next couple days taking it easy and just hit some cardio and housework.

Congrats everyone on making it thru the month!

Of course on the last day of Squatober I was told I have to stay for a meeting at lunch. Guess I'll be trying to squeeze this one in after work or tomorrow afternoon. Damn the luck!

I will start this off with saying that I am unsure what my 1 rep max was before going into this. Was using 365 for my training max and at the beginning of October, it was a struggle but doable.
Yesterday, hit 445. Super happy with my growth over this month.

Monday starts Elbow Meat.

I can't do day 31 today, not enough time with the kids trick or treating and eating candy tonight

So doing it tomorrow looks like a good Friday session

R.I.P Squatober 2024 - Day 31 The Hangover Done (1hr 10 mins all in)

Whoa, probably the best titled workout of the month. Going from the euphoria of hitting a PR yesterday to right back to the grind the very next day.

Squats went good, first SS on bench/row I was like oh shite the hangover kicking in. Had to crank the tunes to 11 like spinal tap to get going and just remember I got a long weekend ahead of me and this shite almost over.

Deads suck - never enjoy them, know they good for ya but whatever

Did 5 sets of 20: DB Skull (since its halloween and all) BB curl & DB shrug to cap it off.

"I'm tired Boss" - all of tigerdroppings squatober homies

Awesome month, loved seeing the PR post from yesterday and everyones progress, way to get it boy's!

Home gym and following a program has been a game changer for me, got it set up for 40th bday and 3.5 years later made huge gains after a decade or so of cardio focused exercise and a bit of frickarounditess in the gym.

Not sure what to run in November maybe bench focused then deadcember to finish out 2024. Would love to be in the 1000lb club and seems doable now

Thanks for attending my TED talk

The hangover was rough. Took me right at 70 minutes.

Sheesh.

Glad it's over, but I enjoyed it again. Delt with a nagging back injury and still added 10 pounds to my max.

Time to snack on some candy!

A day late but PR party done. 315 on squats which was my training max and my PR from last year. I was hoping for more but wasn’t feeling it today.

Also decided to max on bench. I got 255, 265 was my previous PR.

My workouts were slacking before Squatober and it shows. I’m feeling motivated now and ready for the next one. FOH2 or BF2, not sure.
