It’s a bit ridiculous to me. I really don’t know where the line should be drawn between “this is normal” and “go to the ER.” Obviously, I’d go if I had sharp or severe pain. I don’t have any issues during exercise, so I suspect I’m fine.

Then you should already been on the phone/app with your primary care provider and have a plan of action in place, even if you can't get an appointment for awhile. They will send you to ER, Urgent care, see their nurse, squeeze you in somewhere, etc.
If you do not have a PCP, you are not looking out for yourself or your young family. Regardless of age and what you believe your current health situation is, you should be going to your doctor at least once a year and get your annual physical/blood work that is free with any medical insurance coverage that is worth a damn.
