54 year old male struggling to get off sugar. Chocolate is my go to. Have always been able to keep it at bay until several years ago when I took a sitdown very stressful job. Diet is really good otherwise(lots of greens, very little fried food, lean meats and chicken). 5'9 205 lbs sort of stocky build.
Everytime i try I'm good for a few weeks and then fall off the cliff. I know it's pitiful. Just looking for a few tips.

Cut your carbs for a month. Your taste will change. When you try chocolate again, it will taste extremely sweet. You can make low carb treats to get you through. After a month, you probably will not even crave the sugar.

Will power is the only other answer.

What worked for me was weaning myself off.
I love sugar and especially chocolate.

First I switched to chocolate chip granola bars.
Then it was sugar-free chocolate candy. (The green and white bags are awesome)
Then individual peanut butter cups, that’s only peanut butter, with a chocolate premier protein shake.
Now I’m good without anything or at the least, a protein shake. Core Power 42g chocolate tastes like melted chocolate ice cream.

Be careful with this….usually a lot of sugar alcohols. They will absolutely cause some gastrointestinal problems (saying it nicely).

Go cold turkey. You will get headaches at first but then you will be fine.

I only eat 95%+ chocolate. Why not try that?

This sounds like an excuse. What type of job do you have?

I'm about 1.5" taller than you, I weigh ~175lbs, and I could still stand to lose at least 5 more lbs. You need to lose some weight. You probably eat a lot more sugar, and carbs in general than you're letting on in your post.
