30 Days- 10,000 Push Ups

Started this challenge yesterday. I’ve done before with good results. I’ll post updates if anyone else wants to hop on board or is interested.
I’ve done this a few years back with good results. Mixing this in with 3 days weight lifting and 3 days running.

how many are you doing each day, and are you dieting as well as other workouts?

1st Day was underwhelming. I only got 220, so I have to make that up. Yesterday i did 333. I will try to make up the push ups missed Monday later on in the week. Once I finish this week I will recalculate so that I can take Sunday's off. I did that last time and it was nice to have a break each week.
For my diet I am IF as well as trying to only eat mostly fats, green veggies and protein. I gave up fried foods, soft drinks and pizza for lent, so it should help.

How are you splitting it up? 33X10?

Right now I’m cranking out about 15-20 at a time. Strict chest to floor and then lock out. I’ll get stronger as the challenge goes on, so I will be able to increase my reps per set.

I did this a couple years ago and paired it with 1k pull-ups/month. Got to where I could do sets of 100 pushups by the end!
And definitely burned myself out cause I don’t do push-ups anymore lol.

What benefit did you see from the challenge?

Someone on the OT started this challenge a few years back and I hopped on. Most people fell off with the exception of a few.
I really noticed that my mid section, shoulders, and chest all tightened up pretty considerably. Very noticeable difference. Like any challenge, it will also be something that will kick start you into being more healthy overall and being conscientious of what and when I’m eating. In my case, I’m doing it to kick start me in the right direction. I am doing a Spartan race in May, so I need to slim up a bit and get right.

I'd like to know this as well.

1. Gets me off my arse/motivates me towards a goal
2. Tightens up shoulders/chest/core significantly.
3. Burns calories/fat
I’ll post before and after pics after the challenge.

I don't find that it correlates super well to massive strength gains from a lifting standpoint.
However, your shoulders and triceps will explode. From a visual / asthetics standpoint, I've never looked more in-shape than I did a year ago after completing this challenge. You will look like an absolute animal.

Did you do any other lifting throughout the month?

I like this response, I think I may add this to my routine (lift 3 days and run 2-3 with some yoga or pilates 1 day).
This my pair well with my no drinking during lent to slim down for the spring / summer

I do 40 pushups everynight and find that my shoulders look good while I do this

I did it as auxiliary additional work outside of my usual lifts. So I was still doing my nowrmal heaving lifting MWF with yoga on T and Th.
If I did it again (which this thread has me thinking of doing), I think I'd reduce my daily push-ups. Towards the end (after I was doing it for many more than one month) I was getting to the point where I was knocking out sets of ~80 push-ups every hour on the hour (yea I was the guy doing push-ups in his office), and then on top of that (which usually ended up being close to a thousand push-ups by the end of the day, I'd then go hit the gym and do my normal lifts.
I think I kept up with that pace for right around 4 months and then all the sudden I just got gassed. My lifts were plateauing bingtime, and my shoulders were getting crazy sore.
I tell ya what, though, at the end of it I looked like I'd just finished a fricking cycle, easily the most jacked I've ever looked.

Sounds interesting. I'm going to do a variation in which I shoot for 10k reps total of dips, pull-ups, push-ups.
