10k Push-up Challenge starting today, August 1st

I did this back in 2014 as a challenge from this board and got to somewhere between 6k-7k for the month. Ended up the month in the best shape I’d been in for a while.
Doing it again starting today at 63 years old. Who’s in?
I’ll keep my numbers updated here for accountability if that’s cool. Let me know if it’s not.
8/1: 350
8/2: 350

Yikes I would be down for 100 a day. I don’t stand a chance at 10k in a month

I love elbow tendinitis. I’m in!

I did this in 2019 when my youngest was born. I figured I would be too busy with a newborn to go to the gym, so I would just do this instead.
I did 350 everyday for 30 days.
I would do 150 first thing in the morning. Then 100 after lunch. Then another 100 a night.
When I first started, I was doing sets of 25. By the end of the month, I was doing sets of 50.
It was a fun challenge.

I love a good challenge to break the monotony of gym life.

How do you work it around lifting? I have chest press, lat pulldowns, pec flys, and lateral raises on the rotation tomorrow.

I’ll do it on top of everything else.
I did back, shoulders and bis today and got 350 pushups in before that.

do the pushups and your regular training schedule. It may suck at first, but your body will quickly adapt.

What part do you disagree with?

Did this several years ago. Much like any routine if you don't use variation your body adapts and gains are minimal.

What is the point other than saying you did it? It's detrimental to muscle growth and exposes you to overuse injury, especially on top of weight lifting.
Past 25-35 reps, you're building stamina vs mass

Impressive feat at 63. I hope you have a good base of fitness though. This sounds like a recipe for tendonitis if not.

There is none. Shits & giggles

Builds muscle in the chest, triceps, and shoulders. Helps build good habits by breaking down massive goals into smaller chunks. Boosts confidence. Enforces consistency (which is something a lot of people lack). Plus its good to just challenge yourself, even if its just to mix things up in your training.

I doubt many people are doing 300-350 pushups in one massive set. Most are breaking their daily pushup goal into small sets. But for people who are not used to training throughout the day, it does help build stamina.
Though overuse is a concern. I'd suggest mixing stretching, active mobility and just plain pull up into the daily routine to help minimize this.

You're not building any muscle mass in the chest, triceps or shoulders by doing 10k pushups in 30 days.
It's a vanity challenge at best

Convenient how you ignored the rest of my post.
It does build muscle - especially in untrained or novice lifters. You may not believe it, and that's fine.
But even if it didn't, the rest of what I posted holds true. There is nothing wrong with challenging oneself. Even if it is for "vanity" as you say.

There’s very little justification for running a marathon either, but I understand and respect why some people do it.
Same thing here.

There's nothing wrong with challenging yourself, I agree
