Zurich has extended its sponsorship of its PGA tournament until 2030.

That is big for New Orleans

That’s great news for the event. It’s become really popular for the area.

Was worried with all the uncertainty surrounding professional golf, the Zurich might pull the plug on spending a ton of money.

Unfortunately it will never get elevated in its current format. I'd keep the current format, I think that attracts some big names who wouldn't play if it were a regular event

I don’t think it even needs to become an elevated event. What hurts the zurich more than anything is the RBC being elevated a week before. Going directly from the masters into an elevated event kills the zurich as it makes it a natural rest week for the big names.

The tour really needs to consider moving the RBC. Having an elevated event directly after the masters makes no sense to me.

I think the players themselves like the RBC the week after. It’s a resort town that’s close to Augusta. Many treat it as a family vacation and recoup session after the masters

At least we get LIV Nola the next 3 years too, so we get to see some more big names

It is good to have a long term sponsor in this environment as a lot ot stops on the Tour have struggled to maintain their sponsor. Agree it probably won’t be an elevated event but the team aspect keeps it interesting

On that golf course? It's Putt Putt for PGA Pro's

Agree with that, like much of pro sports in NOLA the Zurich is a bottom feeder tour event. The gimmick of the four ball approach makes it relaxing break for bigger names looking for a less stressful event mid season.

It will never be an elevated event given our region.

It is pretty wild how easy they score on that course.

However, I do think it has the "bones" to be a difficult setup if they wanted to make it that way.

Lengthen the rough, firm up the greens, make 2/7/16 a bit more difficult.

Your schtick is bad enough on saints & pelicans talk. Please keep it over there.

Looks like a great crowd out there today. I went Friday and Saturday and both were packed, but on early coverage today looks like even more people.

The only way they could make 2 and 7 more difficult would be to make them par 4's. 16 is a good short par 4 that is harder than it looks. They need to find a replacement cypress tree for #11 to sit 80 yards out like the old one did. That hole has zero defense. The course is simply too flat and too wide open to be made 'difficult'.

Thick rough solves the problem for many holes. It’s too short right now

Nice job Golf Channel and CBS, not showing the last round with Rory due to technical difficulties.

It raises 2.5 - 3 million a year for children’s charities in and around the city.

That’s great, the cause is noble and good for the region.

It’s still needs a gimmick team type event to attract anyone. Tiger never came to NOLA and even our own Sam Burns skips the event.

More than 37k fans in attendance on Saturday, breaking the single day attendance record from last year

They did over 116k over 4 days last year, they should be close to that again.

Why didn’t Burns play this year? Last year his wife was having their baby I think.
