I’d be shocked if this event exists in 2 years. Looks like korn ferry on tv

Well just saw one of the news stations tweeted attendance today was 35,000 which would be the single day record.

It was picture perfect weather. Definitely a ton of people there especially with Fitzpatrick, Burns, & Damen group.

This event has existed for 85 straight years, but random tigerdroppings poster says it won't be around for 2 more.

A PGA event with a purse over 7 million dollars is hated by the PGA tour players and won’t be around in two years

You have to love the shite you read on this board.

The Zurich Classic will remain but could be played somewhere else though. At another TPC course.

It’s an underwhelming tournament on a boring course

There’s going to be a big crowd following the last group today, wanting to see Keith Mitchell and Sungjae duke it out to content for win

When they announced their pairing, I was thinking Hossler or Higgs would be his partner, but they seem to be gelling just fine. Their post round interview was great.

I was out there yesterday and have no idea what y’all are talking about with a korn ferry event. It was packed out there. All the tents were full and it was a great time.

This place just loves to hate on anything.

Would it ever go back to being played at English Turn? I was a volunteer marshal back in the late 1990’s when the tournament was held at English Turn. I remember the English Turn residents didn’t like hosting the tournament. That was the scuttlebutt among the marshals. Maybe attitudes have changed.

I doubt it. ET doesn’t have the space for as big as this tourney has become. Way too many people as far as parking, tents, etc.

This nearly happened to the Houston Open with a larger purse. NOLA already fired the bullet on a team event to generate buzz. I think it’s fair to consider a downgrade of the event or elimination given the dwindling population. It’s not like it is a completely absurd take.

The event literally set an attendance record yesterday with a “dwindling population”

So is the possible solution an existing course in the NO metro area or building a new one? I understood the course in Avondale was built in response to ET. And was subsidized in part by the state.

And that attendance record is still poo

Even if you consider the above is in jest - the case of Houston is was about the sponsorship so if/when Zurich pulls will someone else stand up? The Astros owner had to do it in Houston and it still moved to the fall.

I’m watching this on TV and it looks like no one is there.

And NO/LA population is reducing

This may be a great tournament to attend in person on a nice sunny day, but it is boring AF on TV. By far one of the worst televised events for the year. Meanwhile, the LIV event for the first time is watchable on TV. It's actually entertaining this week to watch. Maybe they can learn a few things from this event and build on it.
