Looks great, I'll report back after Sunday

Ok, played Sunday morning. Excellent. This place will be amazing when the full build out is complete.
Course was spectacular. Firmest/fastest greens I've played on. They sounded like a bass drum when a ball would bounce on them from little more than a chip shot. Everything was immaculate.
Service from staff and caddies was excellent. Plenty of complimentary snack/refreshment stations all throughout course.
Layout was great, used most of my bag. I don't think there is a flat spot on any of the 18 greens.
Rough layout of the 2nd Crenshaw designed 18 hole tract is taking place.
Round took 4.25 hours. Pace was excellent, no waiting.

Thank you for the report. All the things you mentioned are what I would expect from Dream Golf, but I love hearing the confirmation. It's great that we have that sandy drum sound somewhere in Texas.
This is a nice surprise. While the prices on food and beverage aren't too bad at their courses, I did not expect to have complimentary options.

Yep there were little "huts" every few holes with an attendant. Plenty of handheld snacks and drinks at no charge. Also had "yeti stations" that had ice and water bottles at what felt like each hole.

I have to imagine if they want to get anybody to come walk the course from July-Sep, they will need water at almost every hole.

I assume Mingo already has the course record?

My caddie said low round was a 68 so far, shot by another caddie.

I played it a couple of weeks ago when it opened up to the public and your review is dead on. WSD is a great track and I can only imagine the Coore/Crenshaw course will be as good or better.
We tee'd off at 9:00 and finished in a little over 4 hours and really took our time the last few holes.
I know they are considering carts in the future during the summer months similar to Streamsong where you can use a cart but must be accompanied by a forecaddie.
At $500, it's a luxury for sure, but I think in the near future it will be considered one of the best public courses in the country.

I am curious. What about the course leads you to say it will be one of the best public courses?
What other top public courses would you compare it to? $500/round is significantly more than the $300-350/ round at Bandon unless you are saying that includes caddy fees.

He is including caddy. The most expensive time is Sept-Nov, and the green fee is $275.

500.00 bucks for a round of golf.
I'm glad that I when I played my best golf , I spent 200.00 total to play Pebble, Kapula Plantation and still had enough fir a sandwich and a beer.

Correct, $275 green fee +I threw the caddie $200

Yes, that includes the caddie fees.
I base it, primarily, on the merits of the course itself. I’ve played all of the Bandon courses as well as all of the Pinehurst courses except #10, and I’d put it up there with them architecturally. I’ve also been lucky enough to play quite a few other Top 100’s so I think I have decent perspective.
Finally, I know the quality of the Keisers’ commitment and the work of the architects involved. Doak and Coore/Crenshaw don’t need the work - they have plenty so they saw something in the possibilities of the property that compelled them to get involved.

I played yesterday and it was a real treat. It was expensive but I think coming once every 3-4 months is absolutely something I will be putting in my rotation. First class staff, great caddies..just a fun walk and hang. It's going to be a real popular destination when they build the hotel. They mentioned they would love to get it to 5 courses.
The sound when balls hit the green was real interesting..mostly because its built on sand. I can second the comment that it sounds like it's hollow but it's not.

That’s cool. I wasn’t trying to be argumentative, I was just curious.
Does it play more linksy or does it have much elevation changes? Nice views or high shot values over canyons or requiring you to use your whole bag etc?
I am trying to remember the landscape around that area as I spent a lot of time in Shreveport and Dallas but remember things being mostly flat.
I am likely gonna check out the course Rodeo Dunes here in the next year or two as I have friends up that way.

No sweat! I didn’t think you were - just wanted to qualify my opinion a little. It reminded me a lot of Doak’s Streamsong Blue course with a bit of Pinehurst vibe with big fairways framed by trees and waste areas. There is actually a decent amount of elevation changes. I played with a couple of scratch players (one of whom is a GD Course Rater) so we played the Tips and it was a pretty long 7,000 yards.
I can’t wait to see Rodeo Dunes - it looks amazing.

I have a friend working on Rodeo Dunes. He said it is going to be amazing. He was part of the WSD bunker design and install and was asked to do the same at RD.

My group is scheduled to play WSD this weekend, but it looks like we may get rained out. Hoping all of the rain stays in the DFW, and it doesn't flood too far east.

I really liked Streamsong blue and red.
