I don’t personally know of a group that you would fit in very well. The ones I know of and have played with are typically higher handicaps that don’t really play for money.

There’s definitely some low single handicap groups out there. The pro shop can get you into those for sure.

for those of you that are members hit me up at cbourgeois88@yahoo so I can look you up if Im headed that way.

MWP- the price you pay at Squire is ridiculously inexpensive so its not that big of a deal. I have played all the courses here except HCC and ROCC and there really isn't one quite like Squire. Mystic is phenomenal as well and I will be playing pretty much every time I head up there too.

Interesting. Like what is ballpark ridiculously inexpensive? I guess I was delusional thinking that it would be in the same ballpark as BDCC. Do they give you a break for being out of town?

Yep on that price versus guest weekend gf of 136.50 per round. No brainer for me because I play 3-4 rounds every 6 weeks.

Prices to vary depending on the total distance you live away. For instance Shreveport would cost more than Houston

If you check out the scores for the State Am being held at Squire Creek this weekend it would be enough to scare anyone away! These are guys that are mostly scratch or somewhere close to it. They must have really tricked out the pin locations.

I recently joined and I am looking for guys to play with when I travel over there. I have taken two trips with my Houston guys so far but after they all go I will look to find some sort of “regular game” that I can get into when in town.

The LGA Amateur has the pins in difficult locations - on top of ridges, next to grain changes, and some greens 6-8 yards on and if you miss long the putt is downhill and down grain. Course is in great shape and the greens are quick. If you dont know where to miss it at on this golf course, it produces some big numbers.

He plays there every day so certainly knows the course (which is the type of course you really need to know well)

But without looking today there were a few young fins out there AND freaking two time defending state am champ — no respect for humphries!

Kyle Williams is scratch and plays out there. He shot 80 on day one. My buddy that is playing said it is tough to make a lot of birdies.

Hitting the green is overrated out there. The greens are so big with so much slope and speed that it’s often much better to be in a bunker or even short sided. As Ams, we hear that all the time on TV but don’t really understand it till we experience it on a course like that where it’s playing at its longest and toughest. Lots of respect to those who battled and made the cut much less leading.

Yeah you can’t really lose your focus and slap a putt out there without paying for it

A terrible putter can hit 18 GIR there and shoot over 100 I know I frick around on here a lot about it bs’ing but it truly is a gem and very tough for the average amateur
