quote:Hammering a 240 yd 4 iron to 7 ft on a par 3 with Tiger just 1 stroke back is what I'm going to remember. His birdie there sealed it.
So even if you saw his shots, none of them stood out dramatically.

^This...
And pounding that driver on the back 9 when he needed it most... That drive on 18 was pretty legit to blow past the bunkers when he could have hit iron and still won.
Back 9 Drivers:
10 - 331 yds - Right rough (barely)
12 - 300 yds - FAIRWAY
15 - 334 yds - FAIRWAY
17 - 338 yds - FAIRWAY
18 - 324 yds - FAIRWAY

The Masters gets an edge because of the limited commercials. I think it's 4 minutes per hour. A major drawback is the green jackets dictate too much as to what you see and hear. NBC & Fox lag way behind CBS as to the quality of their broacaster's and the behind the scenes production crew.

You've never actually watched the Masters, have you? Augusta National has limited the nuber of ads/hr for years. That's one of the conditions they set when they put the broadcast rights up for bid - as well as they get to okay whom the sponsors are that buy that air time.

They were showing him up until then

I agree. Fox's coverage was abysmal. On Saturday, they were freaking about the course and crying like babies. It also sounded like they were lobbying for Phil to be disqualified.
For the last 3 hours of their coverage, they only talked about Phil and the USGA "losing the course".

The Open on NBC/Golf Channel. Fox shows a lot of golf too, but the coverage isn't that great. frick Joe Buck.
Masters was awful per usual. Easily the worst of the four every single year.
PGA was alright.

They show the least amount of coverage on TV, they spend way too much time with fluff pieces and stupid stories instead of showing actual golf shots, and Jim Nantz is unbearable.

CBS golf executives and golf viewers would beg to differ. Did Nantz blow you off for an autograph?

The Masters is always going to be my favorite tournament although I think CBS cut back on the music this year that I have grown accustomed to hearing with their coverage. I actually have to escape to lock myself away from civilization on Masters Sunday. As for the best actual tournament for watching a dude grind under pressure, it was hands down the PGA.

I absolutely love watching the masters, but seeing the same stories every single year gets old.
We have YouTube. We don't need an 2 hours of nostalgia coverage every day during the tournament.
