Couple of things you can try for the chip yips:

Left hand low chipping; rewires the brain to take the yips away. There’s a pro that does it; can’t remember his name. I think he is the one who won the US Open in Boston a few years ago.

Stand closer to the ball, push grip away from body, so that the club is toe down, and use more of a putting stroke. It keeps the leading edge from sticking in the ground, so it works well on tight wet lies. The ball comes off the face differently, so you have to experiment with different wedges to get the feel.

Getting back and loosing up the muscles coming out of winter. Man, my back is tight right now. Once i get a couple of rounds, I will be back in full swing.

Inconsistency with longer irons. Maddening.

Usually a battle between the tee ball (keeping it in a manageable spot) and iron game. Pitching/chipping/putting is pretty consistent.

I have been absolutely trash with wedges. I decided to stop sucking and subscribed to Short Game Chef. I have noticed a substantial improvement in 100 yards and in. Also had a chip in birdie yesterday and one more that lipped out.

$99 is pricey, but it was really more for a foundation to go back to and a method to build on.

Not hitting enough greens, not chipping it close enough when I miss them.

Short game. Nashville winter sucks and everything is always muddy and requires perfect contact. Always sets me back. By May/June my short game comes around just in time for something else to fall apart.

I never miss with a long iron.

Carry hybrids and fairway woods now.

Driver consistency. All my drives are straight with a little fade if any. But straight down the fairway or straight pull left ob/in the water etc. And they are grouped, all fairways and when the left starts it’s all left. Very frustrating. Takes me from single digits to bogey golf.

I always laughed at the whole short game chef vs Joe Mayo beef but I have to tell you, playing primarily on grainy arse bermuda for 90 percent of my golf I'm firmly in the Mayo camp for chipping and pitching.

Putting the pieces together. Right distance, right direction, right club, right swing. I can do each one, maybe 2 at a time, but rarely get it all in one swing.

Also the need to drink 47 beers on the course prohibits me from finishing otherwise good rounds.

Thats nothing. Some guys who played scramble together at our club would down that before the turn. When they got lit they played better.

Is it a foursome drinking 2 cases? Or one person?

Either way, I’d struggle to stand up.

3 man scramble. 2 big coolers, 2 cart coolers, and they filled up again at the turn
