My cousin and I are thinking of taking a few days and heading to New Orleans to play a few courses over 2 days. We have TPC Louisiana set in stone as one, and we are considering English Turn or Lakewood CC as another. Do you guys have any recommendations or alternatives for us? Thanks!

1. Oak Harbor
2. English Turn
3. Bayou Oaks South

I’ve never played Lakewood. LaTour is about 40mins from Nola. I haven’t played it either but I hear good things.

TPC is ok, but by far the worst TPC course I’ve ever played.

Bayou Oaks new course at City Park
If you don’t mind a 45 minute drive, La Tour is probably the best course in South Louisiana.

Another I always recommend is Audubon Park. There’s gonna be a couple of ego people who’ll downvote this recommendation, but it’s a lot of fun and the setting is fantastic. It’s an executive course with 12 par 3’s, 4 short par 4’s and 2 reachable par 5’s. My golf group plays there 2 times per year and it’s always 2 of the best attended and most fun events. Beautiful course, usually in great shape, you’ll hit every club in your bag. The club house porch is a great place for lunch and drinks. You can play it for $50 or less and you won’t get beat to hell. It’s also 15 minutes from anywhere you’d want to go in New Orleans.

If you would’ve shown up last month you’d change this recommendation, goat ranch.

Cool if you've never played it. I've played twice and while I'd have no problem playing there again, it's not somewhere I'd pick.

Played bayou oaks about two weeks ago. It was wet but man it seems like they are letting what happened to the north course happen. I hope I am wrong.

Grew up in NO and played golf as a teen on all of the City Park golf course. At that time they had 4 18 hole courses and a 9 hole junior course. The city has a diamond that is the City Park facilities and will kill it like they have done most things in the city.

When in good condition, Lakewood is a stout course.
I've turned a cold shoulder to English Turn. The conditions have been very inconsistent. Greens are near perfect while everything else is garbage.
Bayou Oaks is in dece shape but the layout is boring. TPC is a snoozefest fest.
I'd play Lakewood and Bayou Oaks, TPC as a fall back. While Audubon gets shite on, the scenery (bawettes yogging) is worth it.

Is the worst TPC course still better than a lot of other courses in the area? I’ve only been there once, but it was to watch the Zurich so of course it was pristine at that time.

I agree Audubon is one of the funnest rounds you can play. Plus only a 2 or 3 hour round.

Bayou Oaks is nice but a little boring.

La Tour is in great shape and fun course. Fairways are a little narrow but a fun course.

Lakewood is also good. It was fairly wet when we played last but all courses have been suffering from too much rain.

Heard Friday that Lakewood is having some financial troubles. Not sure if true.

LaTour is the best in the area. For a quick nine you can always play Thibby's favorite....Fashion.
