I know it's been talked about, but wanted to ask again.

My friend, the editor of Plugged in Golf, is looking at courses in the BR area. I moved out of LA in 1988. I know of CC of La and Carter's Plantation, that's it.

SO ..... if a good buddy was coming into BR, which top 5 courses would you recommend?

BR Area, in no order
- BRCC
- CCL
- Carter
- U Club
- I would say Beaver next but have never played Pelican Point. Beaver can also be tossed up with Santa Maria depending on Santa’s conditions

Carter is in fantastic shape and those without it in the top 5 are not being honest. Why?

I wouldn’t really consider it the BR area. But if it was, it’s up there with Pelican.

Honorable mention

Webb (for layout, history and fun).

Here’s the order:

1. BRCC
2. CCL
(Gap)
3. UClub
(Gap)
4. Beaver Creek
5. Carter Plantation
6. Santa Maria
7. The Island

ETA:
Any list without BRCC in the top 2 should be ignored. I would only entertain an argument for CCL above it.

I would totally agree with this list but flip Carter and Beaver… I have played both recently and find Carter to be in better shape and have an equally fun/challenging layout.

Not sure what the knock on Carter is. Please explain rather than downvote lol

The Islands greens are in rough shape right now. Carter’s are in great shape comparing the two.

The Island is a solid course for our miserable Golf State but laughable to list it in top five. Beaver Creek and Santa Maria are better than the Island.
