It doesn’t suck because it’s firm and fast. It sucks because it’s too long, narrow, and the greens are poorly designed, especially for how windy it gets there
There's no point in trying to reason with these idiots, they think Greg Norman is a good architect.
Again, they are the reason for the decline in the game. Pandering for long penal rough and narrow fairways. Despicable

Too long and narrow? Wtf lol

Now you think u know what architects I like. Lmao. You are a clown.

Its manufacturing difficulty and eliminating half or more of the field before the first tee shot is ever hit.
quote:You're right. The scores would be the exact same without the redesigns. WTF?
Wouldn't happen

Ell have fun arguing with this dude. He’s 12 and played golf once. But hey he reads articles!

There's an article of what he's basically trying to say.
But I knew he wouldn't take it that way and ignore those points.

I've never said bring the tees back to 6500 yards, I said length isn't the answer. They could play Augusta at 7100 or 7200 yards wider and with less trees and the scores would be the same as they are at 7500+ and more players would have a chancr to win

If you read their writing or listen to what they say, or hell, just look at what they build its pretty clear.

Why post links when you can just see the results of golf courses that actually employ those design characteristics?
You won't use that though because you are dead set that shitty courses using manufactured penalties is good

Guys like MacKenzie "built" by utilizing the existing surroundings. They hardly ever added nuance themselves but rather chose areas that came with it. They'd remove obstacles to fit their design rather than clearing out and having the vision to add. It wasn't wrong or bad; simply a different era and approach. And it worked for that time and those golfers whose length was half of what today's guys can hit. Using him as a barometer is a fricking joke.

Yeah man let's use Rees Jones or Jack Nicklaus as a barometer instead

to be fair, performing extensive earthwork was a lot more difficult when he built than it is today

TPC San Antonio is 7400+ yards with one of the lowest driving accuracy percentages on tour if I’m not mistaken.

His course in the Bahamas they play for the web is fun to watch, but an absolute disaster from an architecture standpoint.
