Deflect much?

My point is that it's unfortunate that you haven't played good grass during the summer at peak conditions when it can be just as fast and true.

Because it's firm and fast and brings strategy into play and narrows fairways and greens. Overseeing makes it soft which takes all strategy out of the game. It takes out the ground game and turns it into a dart competition.

Also you know Augusta overseeds? That place is pretty fast and strategic.

I have, but dormant is just better, imo. I've played several very good courses across a pretty wide area of the country and dormant anywhere is generally better.

This isn't a very popular opinion but to each his own.

Yeah I know because people would rather look at a green tree lined piece of shite designed by Jack Nicklaus than a true test of golf designed by a golden age architect

Great retort, would you care to elaborate on the architectural genius of Nicklaus or Player or Norman who built a bunch of golf courses for real estate developments in the 90s?

baw, save us the sanctimony and explanations about the genius in Raynor or Tillinghaus or Ross or whoever the frick you want to champion. You've gone full retard in this thread. You're acting like course condition in October proves that dormant bermuda is tGOAT, but haven't acknowledged how the condition continues to deteriorate until the grass starts growing again. The Players is in March now, not October.

I have absolutely zero idea why you brought up course design in the first place. I just find some irony in your applauding of Squire Creek and then make a comment like that.

Fazio sucks too, hell he may be the very worst offender of boring 90s design. I was making a direct remark to the conditioning of those dormant greens, not their design, but you chose to ignore that quite obvious part.

Shitty courses are still more interesting when they play firm and fast, but casual golf fans judge how "nice" a course is on how green it looks on TV which sucks for people that understand what's going on.

Like in 2016?

quote:

Even as the PGA Tour shifts to the next tournament, players were still talking about what happened last Saturday at TPC Sawgrass. Green speeds for Round 3 jumped to 15 and beyond on the Stimpmeter at The Players, fueling a dramatic increase in scoring average from 71.11 on Friday to 75.59 for the third round.

Are you on drugs? You brought design into this, not me.

And I also brought into it that direct remark about the conditioning of certain greens at a specific time of the year. You seem to intellectually ignorant to distinguish between the two totally different things.

I called it ironic. I didn't say they directly correlated.

It's hilarious that in one post you can commend a course for the best greens ever and in the very next post claim that I'm an idiot for liking greenery or some shite (which I never said)... something that the course you mentioned is well-known for.

PGA does have the top 100 players in the world generally, but I get your point with all the PGA pros that play.

This is a great tournament and I love watching it. I just don’t understand the desire to make it a major.

Is backing off your stupid points with semantics your MO?

Just because something is known for something doesn't mean it's its greatest attribute in reality. Bermuda in the summer is good, because it's not over seeded, but dormant bermuda is the firmest and fastest a course is going to play all year.

What have I backed off?

Is bringing up pointless shite that has nothing to do with the original discussion your MO?

Great.

False. Do you not live in louisiana during the fall and winter or something? Where it rains so much that you can't get equipment on the greens? And the greens hardly dry out enough to get as firm as the 6th day in a row above 97* without rain?

And this is just one example. You can go around the country and watch supers keep their greens fast and firm as hell during the summer. You know why? Because the grass is growing and it won't kill it. Come winter, they don't cut and roll when they can but it's not a priority. So the greens are "good" for a few weeks right after going dormant and then they get worse and worse. How is this so difficult for you to understand? It's fricking March, not October.

Not anymore, is Jacksonville in Louisiana?

Hey man, have fun playing your Rees Jones' aiming at one spot and playing long range darts. There's really nothing better than watching a guy miss the fairway and wedge it out back into the middle because there's no option, SEAUX INTERESTING
