start making money off it

It's not an investment. I didn't join to make or save money. Fortunately, My wife and I have been blessed with great jobs where we have expendable income so we wanted to join a club where we can meet other people around our age that are interested in similar things. You said it with it being a convenience. A lot more than just golf, even though that is what I will be mainly using it for, comes with with a country club membership. Now I have quick access to range balls and rounds to practice on my game, my wife will go to workout classes that provide childcare, they have social events such as wine and whiskey tastings, New Years eve parties, my wife and daughter can go to the pool while I get in a round, etc. It's not 100% golf.

There’s something to what you’re saying but there’s a catch to it. There’s also a practice facility there and there isn’t a respectable practice facility in southeast Louisiana that isn’t private. With that being said you live near the area having the convenience of stopping in and playing 9 quick holes is there. Now you don’t get to go travel to play different courses if you’re committed to your private club. But nobody can tell me a public course really worth not joining Beau Chenne which is probably one of the nicest courses around south Louisiana. Public Golf sucks in Louisiana.

I have never understood the economics of joining a club for golf, unless it is a private club. In my small brain, for a $7,500 one time fee, $350/mo AND a $20 cart fee, I can travel around and get greater variety playing other courses. Just seems like a lot of money, and then I'd feel tied in to just play those courses. Like I said, I just don't get the economics. Is it convenience?

7 rounds of golf per month at $50 + $20 cart fee. So you would need to play at least 8 rounds to start making money off it? I guess I am just not able to play that much golf. I'm lucky if I get to play 4 times a month. Not trying to say membership is a bad thing, I just don't see the cost benefits.

I can agree on this. I will say there really isn't any driving public driving range in the area so that could be a huge plus.

Also you are not counting the other amenities of the club like tennis and the pool.

You don't join a club unless it is private and if it is a true private club the economics still don't make sense. It is simply a luxury spend.

Go try to negotiate the $7500.
Evrery now and then to attract new members, They reduce.
Covington is a much cheaper option.

And unless it has changed, no practice facility.

Covington a much cheaper and shittier option. I’d hope Covington is cheaper. Putting green the size of a midsize suv. No driving range. Greens are very bad on some holes.

Personally I’d rather not be a member anywhere and play all different courses than be a member at Covington

I need to make the decision soon as I need to get in before turning 40. I like Money Hill better, but at an extra 15 minute commute each way I think we would use Beau CHENE more.

I just joined. Sent in my initiation 2 days ago and hope to play Sunday if we aren’t swimming. Michelle is gone (what a shame cause she was easy on the eyes and daddy liked). Ashlee is really nice. Sorry King Ranch, BC won out over Money Hill. Location is more convenient and the wife liked the all the young kids running around and i don’t give a shite as long as i get to play once a week.

When I lived in pelican point I joined and I figured I needed to play Atleast 8 times a month just to break even.
I enjoyed playing golf especially Saturday afternoons. And sometime on Friday afternoons.
But shite wasn’t getting done around the house because I needed to get my money’s worth.
I kept the membership for a few years and kept worrying about the money and just enjoyed golf.
When I retire I’ll probably get a membership at a course and play till I fall out.

Def need a partner brother. I know nobody out there and will play every week Saturday or Sunday pending the family permission. I have a tee time tomorrow but i doubt I’ll even head out there. Let’s tee it up soon man.
