Recently moved to Mandeville and looking to join somewhere. I played Beau Chene many years ago and like that they have two courses. Need a place with a decent range and would like a pool to drop the wife and kid off at while I go play but our new neighborhood has a community pool they can always go to. What are the boards thoughts on Beau Chene? Any one know what it costs to join and what dues are?

My dad has been a member at BC for over 30 years. I grew up there and actually played with him this morning. The best thing about Beau Chene is having 2 courses. 2 putting greens and a driving range for practice but the practice area is nothing special.

They had a really good greenskeeper that left recently but everyone seems to like what the new guy is doing. Played the Mag course this morning and greens were in really good shape. Very fast and smooth. I wouldn't say the course was in amazing shape but it was pretty solid

The pros of having 2 courses makes it the best option in the area in my opinion.

I really am not sure of the dues. Also think it is different if you don't live in Beau Chene. I know a few times in the recent they have been waving the cost to join. Not sure if that is currently what they are doing. Let me know if you have any questions. I spent many hours of my life at the pool and golf course.

You can email them and get the specifics. I believe it's around $7,500 to join and it used to be $295 a month, but someone recently told me it's around $345 monthly.

That does not include carts which are $20 a round. If you live in the neighborhood, you can use your own cart for a trail fee of around $1,400 a year.

There are also different levels depending on your age.

These numbers may be a little off, but they are close.

Yeah for some reason the number 350 was in my head for monthly dues. So that’s probably right with the 300-350 range.

Also the club food is pretty good

Appreciate the info. I emailed them to get some exact numbers. $7,500 seems a little high. I paid less than that at English Turn

Let me know what numbers they give you. I've been wanting the pull the trigger out there, but $7,500 is a bit much.

Only place around with 2 courses. Not terribly long but has an active men’s golf association and other good amenities (2 pools, solid dining, tennis, etc...)

Also we pay $277/mo and I don’t remember the exact initiation fee but it sure wasn’t $7500

i'm over 40 and married with kids........so my options when i joined in march were

$5,000 fee, $345 or $375'ish\mo
$1,000 fee, $480'ish\mo (if you choose this option, in 5 years your monthly drops to the lower monthly rate).

i lived in beau chene for over a year before i joined. felt like the fees were high.......but i was driving all over playing other places.......now that i've joined, it was a wise investment. very convenient to walk 9 or 18 anytime i want on either course.

both courses closed every monday, and they alternate on which one is closed on tuesday.....although there's been a lot of tournaments on mondays lately. i live on the oak, seems like they use that one for tourneys more.

It’s def not 7500. I’ll post the details here shortly. It’s all age dependent.

If you get in at the Birdie membership level, that looks like great value.

RawDog's info is spot on from what I received. I am 34 so the Birdie membership seems overly fair and gives you access to everything but the fitness facility which is an extra $46/month if you want that. My wife works about a mile down the road from Beau Chene so we may schedule a tour of the fitness area and see if that is something she would be interested in. Would save us money on the membership we have at PAC. I think I am going to pull the trigger and join, probably as early as next week, so if any of you guys are current members, let me know and we can get a game going.

I hope to be joining you out there next year. Just depends on when my wife will finally let me take my money and my balls out of her purse and let us join. I like my odds though. Should happen in about 30 years I’m sure.

My wife and I ran out there a moment ago and I joined. Should be official tomorrow. Michelle showed us around and was very friendly. She signed us up under my wife's name so I get 4 extra years on the Birdie plan which was a cool thing to do.

RawDawg, show that wife of yours who's boss and get out there. Who cares if you're in the DawgHouse for a few nights?

keep an eye on your account\charges..........i walk 9 often after work and i see the cart charge for it pop up frequently.....and the beer cart charges for a coke and snicker hit my account a few times (beer only is what i get and no one in my house plays or charges anything). all that to say, anytime i've had any charge account issues, Michelle is very helpful in getting them removed for me.

in their defense, since the COVID, check-ins are typically done out back and its handwritten. so someone is writing down your member #, name, # of holes and a W for walk or the cart #. pretty straight forward, but since they've started this process is when i've noticed the discrepancies.

heading out in about an hour to walk 18 on the oak! congrats and welcome.

You’ll never win the club championship with your balls in your wife’s purse baw

Thanks for the tips. I’ll double check things each month. My job usually allows me to be free early- mid afternoon so I plan to get out there for a late round or at least 9 quite often. Will more than likely get my first round in Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully I’ll catch you out there one afternoon soon and we can tee up. Then once Raw gets on we’ll be one short of game. Just need his wife to drop her purse and let his balls roll out

That does not include carts which are $20 a round.

I have never understood the economics of joining a club for golf, unless it is a private club. In my small brain, for a $7,500 one time fee, $350/mo AND a $20 cart fee, I can travel around and get greater variety playing other courses. Just seems like a lot of money, and then I'd feel tied in to just play those courses. Like I said, I just don't get the economics. Is it convenience?

7 rounds of golf per month at $50 + $20 cart fee. So you would need to play at least 8 rounds to start making money off it? I guess I am just not able to play that much golf. I'm lucky if I get to play 4 times a month. Not trying to say membership is a bad thing, I just don't see the cost benefits.
