Watching live from this AM and the look on Brandel and Lucky Charms face when the USGA guy came on set last night to talk about how the course played was……

Let’s see what happens today.

They’ll dry it out
It's been an oddly cool wet spring and summer in LA and Orange County this year. In Orange County, the month of May barely ever got over 75 degrees and averaged below 70 for the highs.
This weekend will be the warmest it's been all year and the high is only 78. I think the course just never hardened up as they expected.

All these golfers need to work on their putting more

The Memorial 2-weeks ago was a lot tougher than this!

The only courses on the West Coast that deserve a U.S. Open are Pebble. and Torrey. The other time they tried a different West Coast course was Chambers Bay and that was a shite show.
This generation will light Pebble up. Woodland shot -13 the last time it was there. People complain when there is Shinnecock in 2018 that USGA tries too hard to make it impossible. Now, when the players can showcase their talents people also complain. There is no doubt Fowler is playing better than everyone in the first two rounds. Isn’t the point to figure out who is playing the best? Not goofy golf. Like having the final two groups shoot a collective 31 over par. The course will toughen up over the weekend.

A 299 yard par 3 seems a good test.
I like the option of the drivable par 4s.
One of the par 5s is like 625 yards.
Low score wins. It will be fun to watch.

I stand with Brooks Koepka. Rory is a friend

Every internet golf board I have ever visited has this weird hate for Rory. Out in the real world everybody I know loves the guy.

If they set it up like 2000, they wont. I played it August that year after the Open. They had cut back the Open rough to return it to its daily fairway widths and it had browned over somewhat, clearly defining where the Open fairways had been. The Open fairway's were a 1/3 that size. It looked like a single lane road with wide shoulders on each size. Couple that with not mowing the rough for a few weeks and they can make it a beast. Question is, do they have the balls to do it.

I don't really find it exciting watching drives that hit fairway roll into rough and basically become a penalty stroke
I'd much rather watch these risk reward rounds with crazy tiered greens where you get in tight you go low, miss and you 3 putt

I really like the course personally, the thick grass around the greens and bunkers is really interesting. A very unique course that rewards fair ways and punishes mistakes on the short game.

I’ve come around on LACC and this open. It’s usually hard to come from behind on the ridiculously tough courses. Someone could come from way behind here.

I agree with that, but with this course, they should have worked that in reverse. They have multiple 50 yard wide fairways that funnel to collection areas. They should have narrowed that up. On those holes, they’re just bombing it knowing they can be 25-40 yards off and still end up in the bottom of a funnel. If you’re 25-40 yards off in a US Open, you should be on the side of a hill in the rough. Not rolling to the collection point hoping you’re not in one of the 500 divots.
Other than that, bunkers, rough, barranca, and greens are trending to US Open worthy into the weekend.

This woman on commentary and the dude they have walking around throwing balls everywhere is far worse than any issue with the course
