It’s peanuts to them. Be like a guy with a $100MM portfolio pulling the plug on a $5k operational expense that he was using as a PR campaign for the west as they try to change world perception to draw future investors in Saudi Arabia.

bullshite. First off, let’s go with what you are saying. If it’s peanuts, then they likely want an even better ROI. Or else you pull the plug. You generally want to divest with small amounts to hit home runs, where as your bulk of your investments are safer more guaranteed returns but likely lower returns.

2ndly, $100s of millions is not peanuts to them. It doesn’t matter what you think.

ETA: most wealth isn’t completely liquid and can’t just be moved around. A lot of this LIV money likely was, and a huge issue here could be they have limited options for short term changes on their investments and expenses due to the market changes.

That ain't gonna happen the WWE is absolutely printing money.
quote:

WWE has experienced record-breaking financial performance lately under TKO Group Holdings, generating $1.709 billion in revenue in 2025, marking a 22% increase (up $311.3 million) from $1.398 billion in 2024.

2025 Performance: WWE surpassed $1.7 billion in revenue, outperforming UFC's $1.5 billion in 2025, largely driven by the launch of WWE Raw on Netflix and record-breaking live events.

How many people would guess the WWE had higher revenue than UFC? And $200M at that.

How will this workout for players wanting to return to the PGA?

I am willing to bet the PGA Tour will frick with them and make it extremely damaging financially and personally difficult for them to get their tour cards back. I think they'll want to embarrass them.

I’m willing to bet not. Patrick Reed will be welcomed back with 0 financial penalties this fall when his 1 year suspension is up

I guess you could consider a “financial penalty” that he is not eligible for Player Equity Program through 2030…

This would be incredibly stupid for the PGA Tour to do for the best players on LIV.

Getting all the best players back on the PGA Tour would be extremely valuable and a huge win for Monahan and company.

It would and I agree but.....

They've already shown their arse to the rest of the defectors after they let Koepka and Reed back in. I realize it's their league and they can make the rules that they want, but they are being punitive as hell, and personally I don't think it's necessary, or good for the game.

This was pretty obvious when Reed and Koepka took their money and ran back to the PGA.
did they, though? Were those signing bonuses 100% up front? I heard “not really”, that it was more of a earnings guarantee over a set period of time

Would be a great time for Louisiana to pull some typical Louisiana political shenanigans and just not pay their bill for the LIV event.

*Like Jindal did to IndyCar back in 2015ish when Nola had crazy rain that heavily impacted the race and the state just said “naw we’re good” when it came time to pay the promoter

thought the difference would be larger. WWE goes on tour much more often, has 2 mega deals with Netflix and ESPN, Saudi money, and all of their legacy merch they sell, like Hogan, WCW, NWO, Rock, Austin 3:16.

UFC struggling with star power at the moment

Clickbait? They head of the tournament in New Orleans is the one saying they are concerned and need to have a serious conversation

It’s clear some of the money or something else isn’t exactly going as planned so far…

Yeah I’m sure they (in Louisiana) are still in the dark after all the rumors this week, but LIV has stated the 2026 season is fully funded.

Sure they deserve a direct answer from LIV, but I don’t think New Orleans is their main concern right now.

At a macro level, I agree, it isn't. The survival of their entire golf league is their main concern right now. However, they do need to prioritize at least being in communication with their host sites for this season to give the confidence and solace the events are going to happen. I don't think a broad statement, given what all has happened this week, is all the host sites want to hear. LIV isn't 100% funding these events themselves. If the host sites don't have confidence the money is going to be there, local officials need to know whether they need to continue to sink their own money into the tournament. Otherwise, what's to stop them from pulling the plug on hosting? Breach of contract? That would take years to resolve, and LIV may not survive years to want to fight that battle.

Whether any sports league can be a viable business depends on their TV rights deal and it doesn’t seem like there’s much demand for a second Golf league.

I think if the PGA wants to increase its rating it’d be smart to incorporate some variety in their own tour by making several events play similar to LIV events with players playing in shorts and music.
