re: Rory. "It sucks not being able to compete against the best players in The world anymore."

quote:No kidding, probably the easiest club in the bag to hit for me. I remember when the big Bertha came out. After a guy I played with bought one and let me hit it a few times I was sold and never looked back. I tried the (lynx I think?) offset driver and that stayed in the bag for years.
Now it’s my go to for every tee shot. I thought “metal” woods were a fad, but by the mid to late 1980s, they were in my bag.

Not the case around here. My son (17) and his buddies play a minimum 5 times a week, if not more. And that's on top of his golf practice and matches on the high school team. None of the buddies he plays with are on the high school team though. If they ain't doing that they at the camp fishing and swimming or fishing in the few backyard ponds.
In the DFW, if you try to play a round of golf in the afternoon, there is almost always a high school team at most courses I play locally. I'd say there are 5 courses I know that sponsor schools. And there are often about 30 or so kids between the range and walking their round.
It's mildly frustrating getting a start after they take off, but at the same time I try to be patient with them understanding that they're learning the game and the etiquette as well. But, yes, there are kids very frequently at the course.
Now, for casual rounds of golf, I don't particularly see a lot of kids playing with friends or their parents. See some of it, but not a ton.

Looks like you’re just trying to pick a fight. Came to the right place, can always settle it on the course, how much do you want to lose? I’ve never complained about taking idiots money.
I’m not going to argue with an idiot like you. You will drag me down to your level and crush me with experience.

That's good. Have you gotten him a launch monitor?
I haven't. He would love that though...

Rhapsodo one that’s pretty inexpensive.
I need to look into this.

Given your kid has a lot of years ahead for this to benefit them, I’d go with
LINK
Has more features that I’d suggest they’d really appreciate. And they might let you borrow it occasionally too.

I’d invite you to my club but no jeans allowed

quote:Well that’s good, since I’ve never played a round in jeans. Lots of tournaments that required slacks and a golf shirt though. Gonna man up or keep running?

The “internet golf tough guy” is one of the lamest types of online personalities. Even golfers don’t really give a shite if some random amateur is better than you.

Thanks for the rec. Might be a great birthday present for him.

I’d tell McMuffin to practice harder if he can’t compete against them any longer.
