Then why is Tiger meeting with top golfers today? And Jay Monahan tomorrow is holding another midnight vigilance for the players. Maybe they just want to say hi?
To discuss how to keep the better players with the pga instead of going to LIV. Could be more money. Could be making LIV an exhibition league.

Or maybe it is about the money. Imagine that?
Its a pulling out all the stops kind of meeting. The PGA Tour can't compete with the money that LIV is throwing around so they are clinging to the idea that they can keep players because of tradition and majors. I think it is a losing battle, but they have to at least try everything they can at this point.

You get it where LIV will never receive owgr points, therefore no way to play in a major and try to get manufacturing companies to pull all sponsorships and that does something.

That's all I'm writing about here. Jay and Tiger better hurry up and reinvent the wheel. And the conversation better get past tradition and loyalty in a hurry.

You do get that is what the DOJ is investigating and what is contained in the antitrust lawsuit?

They are investigating and suing before their application has been declined? Strange.
They have a long way to go before they meet the criteria to get OWGR points.

What is there currently to investigate?
ETA: this is what I was replying too: “You do get that is what the DOJ is investigating and what is contained in the antitrust lawsuit?”

And it's very clear you haven't looked at it and/or you don't understand it if you think anyone can tell what percentage of money they're holding on to from those filings

Now tell us about the events that don't meet the same criteria that already get points

Ok. But we do know how much revenue they generate and it is not billions (plural). And we can assume that there is greater than $0 in expenses. So the ~$1.5B they generate is not all profit.
Therefore, your comment that he had “no idea” if this is true or not is just stupid. We all have a pretty good idea.

Who are "they"? Do you know? The DOJ is not being prompted by LIV in this investigation. They were prompted to investigate of their own volition. Which on the surface would seem to have its own unique merit.

That's why we have courts and lots of lawyers making lots of money.

Collusion.

There is quite literally no way he knows, unless he works for the Tour and even then it would be about a 10% chance he knows.
So you and he can guess, but you have no idea if you are right or not.

Is the official WORLD golf rankings an American company? If not why would our justice department hold any sway over them?

I'm guessing the LIV players are saying the PGA Tour is colluding with the OWGR to not allow them to receive OWGR points.

The entire premise of his comment was that the tour was not generating billions (multiple, plural) and holding out, not that they are not holding out at all.
So yes, not only do we have an idea but we know for 100% certain that the tour is not sitting around with an extra $3B, $7B, $20B etc. because they literally post their revenue every year and it’s not close to that.

The tour doesn't need to collude with OWGR.

It would have to be in the context of the PGA collusion claim. The inquiry, according to player agents who have been contacted by DOJ officials, is focused on the PGA Tour's actions regarding the Official World Golf Ranking.
