That to me is the whole thing in a but shell. How long will the Saudis fund the overpayment? Because that's how long this thing lasts. There is a current commitment for 4 yrs?( but... What are players going to do if..in 12 months theSaudis sayb"ehhh. It doesn't suit us anymore...sue the Saudis? Greg Norman?) But even if they maintain their commitment through the current "contact" ... What are the players playing for the year after the contract ends? ... The same amount +- a bit of the PGA tour -which isn't going to fold

The Saudis have so much money, they could not care less about making a profit on this thing.

I know some Aramco guys live here in Houston that have to travel to Saudi a few times a year. Money to them really is no object and yes, the way they throw money around, this is just a blip on their radar. I imagine it will last as long as they are amused that they are driving a wedge into American golf.

Yup agree, people dismissed this entity and shite on it but it's still in its infancy stage.

If they keep pulling in top amateurs from the college ranks lookout.

Already have Piot in the field, and now the #2 amateur on the planet is going over. Huge gets to me, way more important than a descending Poulter or Sergio.

Bryson said in his interview he tried to get in the PGA tour players council multiple times and never was voted in

Shocking

What a meh field

For the record, with 8 of the top 50, LIV Portland has the strongest field in Golf this weekend.

Why would LIV put their world rankings on there like that?

If you think about it... why would they highlight OWGR rankings IF they aren't being awarded OWGR pts.. those rankings would continue going down, right?

If you *really* think about it, maybe it's a hint that LIV events will be awarded OWGR pts & the OWGR rankings will stay relevant.

I agree that Chacarra is a pretty big get. I suspect that Sergio Garcia connection played a role (also why you hear of some of these South American guys possibly moving, too).

I don't think Piot is much of a get, and I get the sense he's going to fade quickly. Never cracked the top 40 in the amateur rankings and never did anything of note outside the Am.

Bigger role is he is a GSE Worldwide Management Player

They seem to be funneling players to LIV

Can amateurs join the LIV tour without being penalized by the PGA? (that’s a joke)

I feel like the only way this slows down is if somehow the majors start banning the LIV defectors.

Especially if ANGC came out and said Reed, DJ, Phil, Sergio, are no longer welcome to play their tournament.

Not sure I see that happening

I just don't understand how there is any basis for this or denying world ranking points once the application process has been completed.

We don't like them so we're aren't going to let them sit at our lunch table is some junior high girl shite. Whether you like or hate LIV, at this point they are putting on legitimate professional golf tournaments.

Well yeah... That's sort of the problem and unknown for the LIV ( at least from what's released and what I've read)
We know this is only an goodwill instrument for the Saudis. They have 250 million in cheetahs on gold chains...so of course they don't care about the money. The question is.... What does the LIV do when the Saudis change direction (either abruptly or after their initial "contract").?

When Greg is having to go get American Express / Dell / xyz sponsorship
That would be my fear as a young player... The big signing bonuses would presumably be gone ( with Saudi withdrawal) and then I'm playing for roughly the same amount as the PGA tour but with less staying power ( unless LIV expands beyond 48)

Pat Perez knows that $900k+ payday is coming this weekend.

4aces team has to be the favorite for the $3M team purse.

There is smoke on Twitter that your winnings from tournaments actually aren’t winnings, they just count against the players guaranteed money

brandel & lsupride wrong again.. LINK

To simplify this, let's say Koepka signed a $100 million contract to play in the LIV Golf league. He will receive all of that money, and if he wins the Portland event this weekend, he'll also receive $4 million for a total of $104 million in addition to other winnings he accumulates over the course of his LIV Golf career.

So now you don’t like posting of the current reports? I mean, you had this thread from over two weeks ago

quote:

Fleek and Rickie Tour Live to LIV imminent

And let’s not forget this thread you started last week

quote:

Things are getting interesting. The "strategically aligned" DP World Tour going against the PGA Tour on the suspensions.

Guess your wet dreams aren’t coming true either? Or, it’s just yku psoting the “info at the time”

Which is it neutral and honorable Mingo?
