When the PGA matches the purses LIV is putting out is LIV going to keep buying new young talent to replace all these old guys that are just getting their last paycheck before they ride off into the sunset?

Yes - I feel like people don’t understand the actual values we’re talking about.

I just don’t see it. I don’t think the PGA has fired all its bullets yet and I think they will move heaven and earth to prevent the center of the golf world to live in a shithole like Saudi Arabia. I think over the long haul the Saudis true colors will come out and let’s be honest they don’t care about preserving the game or have any reverence for the game.

Have you watched from even afar as the PGA has been one step and a dollar short at literally every turn of this thing?

I’ll try.

The purses for LIV are about $20mil each - let’s assume ticket sales and concession cancel out the all the course set up and just say a tournament cost the LIV $20m x 8 - $160m/year

Player contracts - assuming DJ &Phil get the most 5yr @130m- can we agree players that jump later will get less cash? If so let’s assume per year they are paying the players - $220m/year

Throw in some start up overhead, planes, etc $100m/year

LIV expenses $480m/year

Say the Saudis want to invest $5b - which would be a small amount given what they have paid for euro soccer single teams versus this being a league. They’ll be able to operate for years.

As more defect, more tickets are sold, TV contracts come into play.

The tv contract could be huge because it’s 24 televised rounds of constant action. My guess if they keep getting defectors from the tour and they clear $500m easily from a global scale to turn this adventure profitable.

Do you think LIV has fired all of its bullets? Just last week they filed for OWGR status. Perhaps they have an uphill battle to get that, perhaps not (there are strict requirements and they've met them all..but PGA Jay is on the voting panel atm).

If LIV gets OWGR status, that means the players won't have to worry about the majors changing their mind and banning them in the future.

What exactly will stop players # 10-100 from jumping ship? They will get more $, play less, and also it will be easier (for a few years at least) to keep or increase your OWGR.

If they get OWGR status, I expect a couple of current top 10 will jump ship. The PGA better work out a deal with LIV now, they are going to lose this battle because they don't have these players under contract.

You are going to lose when the competitor offers more money for less work and all of the same Major benefits.

play less

If they want to play less then why do they want to keep tour status so they can play more tournaments?

Because right now playing in majors is a concern. If you are not on a tour that gets OWGR points, you cannot qualify for majors.

You are doing a good job of acting stupid, but you understand deep down.
