I’m not surprised. AN does what they want. They are their own brand.

But if you think the PGA is going to just go down without swinging you are kidding yourself. Especially if LIV starts to get the upper hand, PGA will pull every string possible to survive. I don’t think any of these entities want to see the center of golf based in Saudi Arabi and run by oil sheiks. Everyone is just feeling each other out at this point.

LIV golf is going to be a flash in the pan tour that goes until the oil money runs out. And it will. These players will get a quick pay day and are hoping long term the PGA will have them back when the oil well dries up.

Has anybody brought up The Player’s in any of these threads? Are they self governed?

Joe Biden is going to beg the King of Saad to increase production at $100 a barrel. Let me know when the trillionaires run out of cash

Once the novelty of owning your own Tour wears off of the oil sheiks they will look at the balance sheet and see massive losses and say that was fun let’s do something else.

They might collect 20% of the revenue of the PGA and are going to pay out probably double. They are going to lose their arse big time. I don’t care who you are it’s not sustainable for 10-20 years just for bragging rights.

It is absolutely sustainable. They may not do it, but it's sustainable.

Where is their revenue going to come from?

There are barely any fans at the events and they only stream the events so far. You are speculating that it is sustainable based on future potential TV deals that may never materialize if all the big networks don’t want to work with Saudi

The PGA signed a 700 million TV contract, no way LIV is getting even half that in the best case.

And none of those investments lose 100s of millions a year. They bought soccer teams that already had proven earnings, not tried to start a competing soccer league. It’s not comparable.

This proves to me that you and the golf media types have no clue what you’re talking about.
1) you don’t understand the math of large numbers
2) You have NO CLUE why the Saudis are doing this. Zero!!!

I already like LIV more than the random tour event. I doubt I’m the only one. I like that it’s three days and a shotgun start.

They will get a international TV deal plus the US tv deal eventually. Looks like they got Matsuayma and I’m guessing after the Open and FedEx cup they will get more players.

I don’t see how this doest become profitable. if the PGA got a 700 million dollar deal. Say they get half at 350m, paying ~20m a tournament x8 that leaves $190m per year.

5 years from now when all the top players have ‘defected’ they will ink a bigger TV deal.

When the PGA matches the purses LIV is putting out is LIV going to keep buying new young talent to replace all these old guys that are just getting their last paycheck before they ride off into the sunset?

They will have sponsors and TV/streaming deals by that time and will increase their purses. Golf is like early 90s NFL. Salaries are exploding. Besides, the fund they are using for the tour is currently at 500Billion$
