Looking for the boards opinion on the Callaway Mack Daddy PM Grind wedges. Was looking at buying a 56* SW and 64* LW..clubs are “used” in great condition. Thanks.

64 is too much loft. Other than that, no one is going to give you anything that’ll help you. Wedge grind, bounce, weight, look is all based on your swing, pitching/chipping style, the turf you typically play on, and simply personal preference.

You won’t use it enough to justify having it in your bag.

Also having a 56 and a 64 means you would either have a huge gap between sand wedge and lob wedge or have to have a second lob wedge in there.

If you want the 56 you probably need a 52 and a 60 to get the gaps correct.

my brother has one and I can't for the life of me look down at that monstrosity with the weird shaping and grooves

i'd suggest seeing one in person (if you haven't) before pulling the trigger

Everyone is different when it comes to clubs, especially wedges. It’s what it in your hands the most on a round of golf.
I play a 52 Tommy Aromour that I’ve had for 25 years cause i I’ve how it feels
I have a 54 and 58 Vokey as well

Those just seem comfortable for my game

If I wouldn’t recognize your name, you aren’t good enough to play a 64* wedge, especially with a Phil Grind.

I’ve tried Hogan, TM, Callaway, Cleveland. It’s vokey for me by a mile.

I prefer a 58 and and a 54. Best all around lofts. With respect to all other manufacturers Srixon makes the best wedges if you can find them.

Except when you blade it, it goes 6" high and 120 yards long.

for a high capper, i'd look at cleveland cbx line. i just got one of these and i have never chipped better than i do with this club.

I have a PM Grind 64° and it is like cheating out of bunkers. Unfortunately, that's about all it's good for. Too much loft for pretty much any other shot, save some sort of short sided lob shot or something like that. For that reason, I don't even bother carrying it.

However, I did recently grab the same club in 60° and find it much more versatile. It's still super easy to use out of bunkers due to the bounce and grind, but I can also use it for lots of other shots. The center of gravity is pretty high, so you don't get these stupid high shots with it, but more of a controlled mid-flight spinner.

That being said, I would want a different bounce and grind for my 56°, thus I play a different type wedge in that spot.

Thanks everyone. I ended up pulling the trigger on both since I got them both for $100. Figured I’d use the 56* a lot more, and have the 64* just to have.

truth... I was playing a round at Santa Maria with my daughter and pulled my 60° to get out of the sand.. bladed the shite out of it.. it went sailing into the great beyond... Her response " you're supposed to hit it with the face of the club"..

Since you are looking T used wedges, take the chance on them.

IMO, the best overall wedges are Vokeys.

Best wedge in wet/dew conditions is Pings Glides 4.0

The 56* PXG Sugar Daddy in a heck of a wedge.

As far as Lob Wedges, they can be great and your worst emeny in the same round.

Don’t buy used wedges.

They’re $170. Nothing like a brand new set of wedges.

Just bought 50-54-58 SM9s

Was on 52-56-60 SM7s

They’re incredible.

I agree with loft selection. Have 50-54-58 in vokey. 58 works like 60 most of the time and feel more comfortable take fuller shots with it over a 60.

Just need a square strike wedge for chipping and an Alien wedge for the rest.

Along with a GXG7 driver, the Pyramid stand-alone putter, and the Perfect Club

Loved the PM grind wedges. Haven't played a non high toe or full face groove design since the original version dropped in 2015.

Extremely versatile wedges. Preferred the U grind on the original in the 60+ lofts and C grind on the 2nd version in the lower lofts.

The general combination of the shape, weighting, and sole design can work for a lot of different golfers.

As for the boards comments on 64 degree wedges they're way off base. Someone who delofts the club significantly on fuller shots can get plenty of use out a 64 from well outside of 50 yards.

If that's not you depending on what shots you like to hit around the greens and the course conditions you typically play there are plenty of situations where a 64 could benefit you more than a 58 or 60 degree.
