Need a new 56 ...has anyone buy/tried the new Mack Daddy 4 or play with the Mizuno T7 blue ion
or highly recommend another wedge?

Going back and forth between the two. Tested the Mizuno indoors and really liked it but haven’t hit the Callaway.

Wedges are all preference.

Mizuno's are still forged, which some people like.

Other than that, it's really Bob Vokey vs Roger Cleveland (Callaway)

I prefer the Roger Cleveland grind and weight, as Vokey's are heavy in my opinion.

ETA yeah a "like new" which most of the time means new is just $80 on CPO

It was an adjustment at first but now I really like the weight of Vokey wedges.

I think Callaway or Vokey wedges are great choices, just go see which ones feel and look how you like.

Bought a couple Callaway MD Forged during their bogo sale around Christmas. I like them well enough thus far in limited action.

These are better than MD3 by a large margin, IMO. The MD4 look better at address than the MD3, but the MD forged are hard to beat. I got rid of SM6s for those.

Thanks all. I’ve never considered a Vokey. Not sure why since it’s rated high and it’s the best selling wedge. I got a 60’ Mack Daddy PM Grind during the buy a putter get a wedge deal that Callaway had. I’m not a big fan of it as it is very hit or miss for me. I hit it well with full swings but everything else is a challenge.

I have 52* & 56* Vokey Spin Milled, oil can finish, and are probably 10-12 yrs old. Been very well pleased with them, haven't had a need to replace them yet...

Check out Ben Hogan TK wedges before you pull the trigger. They’ve got a great variable bounce sole, and factory direct pricing. They had a deal going on a three wedge set for two hundred and some change recently. Not sure if it’s still going or not.

I have the 54 and 57 and love them.

Never thought I'd leave my Vokeys. Bought a set of Hogan irons that came with the 3 wedge set. Love them.

The Vokey SM6 line is on sale, as the SM7s are coming out soon.

I just went and picked up a 48, 54, and 58.

Thanks for all the feedback. First time buying a new set of wedges. As far as shafts does it make sense to customize the shaft or just go stock? If my irons are 1 1/2 inches longer, and all of my clubs are stiff flex do I need to lengthen my wedges, and go with a stiffer shaft?

Probably over thinking it. I’ve talked to a few people at the golf store near my house and they are not very informative.

Standard wedge flex should be fine. If you find yourself feeling like they are too short, take them in and have them extended a bit.

Said his in another thread, but you should highly consider getting fit for Edel wedges. They massively improved my short game.

I was hitting out of the sand today and must have it a rather large rock, as it put a decent sized cut to the face of the Vokey very close to the dead center of the wedge. How worried should I be about the playability of the wedge with the cut?? Should I buy a new one??
