I know we have our share of pro golfers, but what is holding LSU back from being a "top-tier" college golf program? Local course? Coaches? Better deal on Dodge Challengers?
Ran into Luis Gagne a while back at one of the local courses here. Nice young man.
It's great to see Sam on the leader board. Hope he can keep it up.

They won not that long ago. The problem is lack of local talent as a result of terrible junior options which is also related to shitty courses. So, to answer your question... it’s the shitty golf options in Louisiana in general especially south LA.

Kinda what I thought. Shame.

Socio-economic issue? Golf is expensive. I know there is a First Tee program in NOLA, but from my experience, that is probably only a good intro and not a good training program.

They won the natty 5 years ago. They had an individual national champion a couple years before that.... I would say 2010 - 2020 was a good decade for LSU men’s golf.

From Ft Worth.

Louisiana is a terrible golf state. The Toms Academy is helping, but it still has a long way to go.

Burns played in final group at last event. Played bad so good to see him bounce back 4 days later

The top players in the country haven't always been receptive to Chuck.

Just what Ive been told...

The best college golf teams historically are in areas where good courses abound and good junior programs can get kids started early. LSU’s best players aren’t local for that reason. That’s his point.

The LSU Men’s Golf team has more national championships in the last 10 years than the baseball, softball, gymnastics and basketball teams combined. So there’s that.

This is somewhat OT but as someone who has only been following the tour for a few years, since we're discussing college golf, how does Okie State get all these studs from all over to come there and play?

They seem to be the Alabama of college golf. The top tier of college golf programs aren't identical to football or basketball. You see a lot of Georgia, OK State, Wake Forrest, Stanford, and Texas guys on tour. Houston used to be a really strong program back in the day.

A lot of it has to do with the home course, commitment to golf, coaches, pedigree of the program, etc. Same as any other college sport.

If it were not for David Toms Academy, this state would not be producing much D1 talent.

Look at the rosters of ULM, LaTech, UNO, etc...they are loaded down with European kids.

LSU is a different beast - they actively recruit the top ranked juniors on the junior scoreboard....but losing to Stanford, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Arizona State....those are damn good schools to lose to. I don’t know what LSU can do...hell, UL-M could probably beat LSU 3 out of 5 times right now....just because of the European talent. The best D1 golfer may be at UNO right now - not LSU.

Ole Miss, Miss State, Arkansas, Southern Miss, TCU have trended more to lower ranked kids that may be more local that have a shot at being a good fit for 4 years.

And don’t get me started on the ladies - how Miss State gets a hold on our best junior girls is shocking....but tip of the hat to MSU.

The facilities at UClub are subpar. The UClub is an ok course. Nothing to blow you away. You have guys on the team right now telling recruits not to come here. Seems like a cultural mixed with bad facilities compared to others.

We will also miss out on the top La juniors for the next two years.

One of the top ranked players in the state, from Baton Rouge, has signed with Southern Miss.

You think the team's practice facilities are subpar?

A better course for one...There is a reason they practice at BRCC and CCLA before a big tournament.

UC is one of the flattest courses around, the hardest part about that course are the green complexes and the courses LSU plays are very diverse with undulation and the green complexes are not as troublesome
