At one point, they had a framework agreement with the PGA Tour & yet they never wanted to work on a merger.
I’m sure LIV could have adjusted their schedule if those discussions ever took place.

It would have been shorter for him to just say “frick you Phil”
Sounds like a guy really happy with his choices

Nobody is rooting for LIV to fold harder than Rahmbo

I mean what an interview
I least Bryson is lying and saying he wants to play on LIV
Rahm full on says I’m here because I’m trapped

Rahm said that too. Then he was asked directly about his contract
quote:
“Then as the future of the league goes, I think that’s obviously a question for the business people. We want to be here. It’s been a lot of fun. I want to keep competing. I want to keep sharing some time with them.
“But only time will tell. Scott and his team have a lot of hard work to do, but obviously they’re experienced in the area, and that’s why they’ve been chosen to take this role.”

There’s at least a 50% chance Bryson just goes and joins the Bryan Bros and Grant Horvat’s new YouTube golf tour thing.

Here’s the full transcript with Rahm & team

I troll the LIV bots, think it’s a clown show, etc., but if this drags out a little longer and the Tour takes a hard stance on the guys wanting to return, there’s a real shot that Bryson ends up owning a pretty decent share of the whole league.

O’Neil’s comments certainly hinted that they would be willing to give Bryson a significant ownership stake in exchange for playing. Probably more say in operations too.

Why the hell would Bryson want to own LIV? Does he hate money that much?
Posted on 5/5/26 at 2:44 pm to JohnnyKilroy
Because he’s a weird dude. He’s obsessed with being a “disruptor.” I don’t think he wants to play traditional tour golf, both because he doesn’t want the obligations but also because he has a hang up about non-conformist.

I wouldn’t believe much of what he says. He said this when he was with the PGA.
"I laugh when people rumor me with LIV Golf... I never went to LIV for the money... My heart is with the PGA Tour".

That’s what you got from that? When did “LIV” lie to him? Yasir/PIF told them they were funded through 2032 & then a war happened. Things changed, it’s not that hard to comprehend
Nothing coming out today is surprising. Guys are getting a backup plan ready with the uncertainty of LIV in 2027, but O’Neil seems pretty confident LIV will have a season in 2027.

Where’s the lie?

Look, the PGA Tour isn't doing great either. Let's be honest about the situation. They've got the media.”
“They've got everybody on the side that helps pump it up. But they're reducing field sizes, cutting employees, and restructuring their business too.”

The PGA tour is fine. They are correcting now that they don’t have to fight against an entity lighting 1 billion a year on fire to overpay morons like Bryson
Bryson is rightfully getting universally mocked for his comments. Him moving on from his PR team is letting his full douche shine right thru
Reauxl should get this entire boards apology . He is the exact same person he always was and always will be

The pga tour also hasn’t touched a dime
Of the SSG 1.5 billion yet. They’re doing restructuring and reorganizing because they brought in private equity money and are moving to a for profit entity and have an entirely new management.
Definitely not disingenuous at all to compare that to LIV which had the only source of funding for the entire league decide to shut off the spigot

Sure, they just distributed $930M in “equity grants”, but yeah they haven’t touched it…..
quote:
The first $930 million of grants were distributed Wednesday, with players getting a note from PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan (who also holds the CEO title of PGA Tour Enterprises) detailing their award. Tyler Dennis, the PGA Tour’s chief competitions officer, later went on Golf Channel’s “Golf Today” to explain the process.
The tour does not plan on publicly releasing the amounts, but the Telegraph reported earlier on Wednesday that Tiger Woods was set to receive a $100 million grant, with Rory McIlroy getting $50 million, and Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth receiving $30 million each. The grants were divided into four categories:
• Group 1 consists of $750 million in aggregate equity based on career performance, last 5-year performance, and Player Impact Program results. A total of 36 players were in this group.

DeChambeau told a few reporters late Tuesday that he is hopeful that CEO Scott O’Neil and LIV Golf’s leadership can “come up with a good business plan and there's some PE [private equity] that wants to get in and they see the value in it.
“And they see the asset accretion value. What I mean by that is just value in the team, franchises, and then cleaning up the top company. Then I think there's a pathway forward.”
As a major champion, DeChambeau would have status on the PGA Tour but suggested without detail that the penalties he faces would be severe.
“If Scott doesn't find the funding ... O.K., so if I can’t help, if we can’t help and the players can’t help find the funding and we don’t find a solution, for me I think it’s really enticing, depending on what everybody says on the [PGA] Tour and what they're going to strike me with as a penalty, which is quite unfortunate in my opinion, considering what I could do for them,” he said.
“I think, from my perspective, I’d love to grow my YouTube channel three times. Maybe even more. I would love to. I’d love to do a bunch of dubbing in different languages, giving the world more reason to watch YouTube. And then I'd love to play tournaments that want me.”
DeChambeau could join the DP World Tour at the end of this year and be fully exempt as a winner of the 2024 U.S. Open but said he wondered if there would be stipulations.
“I don’t have any control over the policies they make,” said DeChambeau, who was told he’d be exempt next year. “I don’t know. I mean, they make up rules every day. ... I would love to entertain the world globally and play professional golf globally and give everyone around the globe a show.
“And I’d also like to do YouTube videos around it too. How great would that be? I’d love to promote the events and grow the events and collab with people and really create an amazing experience for juniors. Our demographic for golf is what? You know what the age is? It’s 60-plus, right? My demographic is 24 to 34 and it’s over 10 million of them.
“And I want to continue to inspire them and give them as much entertainment as possible because I’m just being myself. I’m trying to be myself as much as I can. I think there’s value to that and I want to give the world of golf as much as I can.”
quote:
Al-Rumayyan, the governor of the PIF and who until last week was the chairman of LIV Golf, often communicated directly with DeChambeau.
But the golfer said he heard nothing in advance of the news that the PIF was pulling out of LIV Golf.
“I was completely shocked,” he said. “I didn’t expect it to happen. A couple months before that, it’s like, we’re here until 2032. We’ve got financing until 2032. And so I told everybody, and that’s what I was told.
“And then I haven’t had any communication. And unfortunately, things are moving on in a different direction. Obviously, they wanted to move on.”
He added: “I have nothing bad to say. They’ve provided me with an incredible opportunity to play golf around the globe and win a bunch of tournaments and influence the world in hopefully a good way.”
‘I think Scott’s doing a great job at helping the sustainability live for this year. Getting all the economics lined up for this year. Letting them finish out this and kind of winding it down on their own terms, whatever way they want to wind it down. And then we’re coming in with a new business plan that hopefully is enticing to everybody in the golf world.”
