This shouldn't get through the DOJ or the European and UK regulators. It's a straight up monopoly. It probably will, but it shouldn't.
No different than the other major sports, which all received approval.

Yes, it is different. There are professional leagues in other countries that give athletes options. European basketball and hockey leagues. South American, Japanese, and Korean baseball leagues. The CFL.

The MLB is a “monopoly”
The NFL is a “monopoly”
The NBA…
And yes… the PGA tour if that is the standard. Except it’s not.
His point is moot. He’s just mad that PIF is now investing in the PGA.

Huge sticking point for all of those against the PGA Tour that felt so bad for the oppressed Tour players.

Yea, but LIV sued them and had a case that this is a monopoly.
This is classic law, you can't sue someone claiming they are a monopoly to them force a merger.

Sure you can. Congress can grant an exception.

One thing I would love to know about the PGA Tour:
Why is Omar Unrest three putting from 4 feet on my TV right now?

I would think that if the PGA Tour sets a very steep reentry cost on DJ, Brooks and the gang just because Rory and Jay got sand in their clams, that anti-trust litigation is still on the table.

So Dr. Pepper will bring litigation on Coca Cola?
Actually, it would be more like 7 up bringing litigation on Dr. Pepper
Everyone wants to talk about how Jay turned his back on the pga players, which of course he did. But more so it looks like the Saudis may have turned their backs on the LIv employees and players

Based on what? 48 hours of conjecture and wishful thinking by the Chamblees of the world?

Also, the most recent report is from Jimmy Dunne, the person who crafted the deal…. Little more reputable than Alan Shipnuck and Chamblee

The "deal" isn't a deal. That's the problem. It's a tentative agreement with no details. You can read it however you like.

I don’t disagree. The “deal” is really just an idea at this point.
Go look at Shipnucks twitter now, he is walking back a lot of his earlier claims now and basically saying “nobody knows and anything can happen”
The victory laps seemed to have been premature

And if this deal falls apart then those players on the PGA Tour who are absolutely pissed off beyond belief will sprint to LIV since they were lied to by the PGA. There is no successful resolution to the PGA Tour now with the way things went down.

Yasier in CNBC interview "We will have both LIV and the PGA Tour.....the idea is to keep everything independent but strategically aligned."
LIV can't be disbanded #1 because it would cause an anti-trust issue and #2 because PIF can't just shut down an asset on its balance sheets.
LIV will actually be the elevated portion of the PGA Tour and they will be adding 16 more players this year (4 more teams of 4).
