the fact that all the other brands are rushing to emulate it says a lot about the technology imo. i'd suggest ordering a stock one from somewhere you can return to test it out. if you like it you can always order custom later. with shaft upgrades they can get $$$. i'm considering trying a link (their version of a blade) next.

Other brands aren’t emulating their tech, but they are emulating their marketing.

So far LAB’s are (I believe) the only putters that are lie angle balanced. They balance each and every putter “by hand”

The other “zero torque” putters out there like PXG’s and the new Odyssey are not using the same tech as LAB.

Maybe Edel putters are lie angle balanced? I don’t remember.

I believe Lab patented their specific tech, but the others seem to be trying to emulate it without infringing on their patent. At least with PXG, seem to be doing pretty good job so far. I'm sure the odyssey version will be solid.

How bout find a putter that you feel comfortable with and practice putting more.

Y'all know how to waste some money.

I'm sure the Lab putter will start the putt on the intended line more often than say a blade, but I'm pretty sure I read something before than most amateurs miss putts because they don't start the ball on the correct line. In saying that I still think the tech is intriguing

Been demoing an Edel f1 for a couple weeks. Got a chance to putt with my buddies df3 and I have to say there is no comparison. The lab is hands down better for me. Feel, ball speed control an accuracy were better for me across the board. The Edel has a weird ping sound and distance control is all over the place. I’m going to try a couple other putters but the lab is def at the top of the list.

I’ll take it further. I’ve read some stats that say some amateurs make MORE putts because they push/pull the ball accidentally. Basically most amateurs suck at reading greens and by pulling or pushing the ball they end up making a putt they would’ve missed if they started it where they wanted

I highly doubt this but even if this was the case, no golfer that wants to get better would want to keep doing this. "I can't hit a straight putt to save my life but it's ok I don't want to get better because I luck out more often than not."

I have a Mezz Max, played it for two seasons now and love it.

What is the size difference in the regular and the Max? I'm rolling a Scotty PhantomX and trying to see which one would be closest to it.

Kind of hard to say; I haven't really seen the regular Mezz in comparison to the max. I came to the Mezz Max from a Phantom 5.5 and the Max is certainly more chunky, but it really doesn't bother me. Honestly the shapes are so different, it's kind of hard to compare.

It did take me a few rounds to really get going with the Mezz, but once I got the feel, it's been great.

Ordered mine Friday as well. Mezz Max Custom, blue head, thick black sight line, 35.5" and stock shaft. Went with the stock shaft because I read it is a super soft feel already and the upgraded shaft makes it even softer.

Not sure what my lie angle is because the remote fitting results weren't back by the time I ordered but they're supposed to apply it to the build.

Ended up being $441 after the discount. I'm super pumped. This will be the first time in 20 years I've rolled something other than a Scotty.

I finally saw a few LABs in person last week at Edwin Watts in BR. Was curious and tried a few out on their indoor putting green. I just can't do it. I can't look down at that over a putt and have any sort of confidence.

There's no doubt merit to the technology. And there's a reason so many people are using them now. But it's not for me.

I had the same reaction to the Odyssey Jailbird as well. I'm sure it's great, but it's also not for me.

Yea I mean I've never even held one so I might feel the same way

Two things kind of sold me on it. The mygolfspy study on it comparing strokes gained test vs the oddesy, pxg, TM spider, and scotty blade putter. Every person that tested it had the most strokes gained with it. And the "pendulum" device test where when you pick it up it stays balanced all the way through. When the Scotty Cameron that I use was put in the device it's natural reaction even if you force it to stay square on the backstroke, on the downstroke the face opens up. That's just how it's balanced. My main miss that I struggle with the most/most frustrating miss is the straight or left edge 5-10 footer that I miss right. It's always been my main miss. And watching that pendulum test and seeing the putter I'm using just kind of naturally opens the face and makes for a miss right if you don't correct it.

Even if I don't like the feel initially I'm going to ride it out for a bit and try and make it work.
