i love to play, but it’s more fun to play well.
I’ve reached a point in my game where I can manage to play well enough to enjoy myself socially. If I have bad holes, they are just bad holes that don’t turn into bad rounds. I can live with low to mid 90s rounds on a bad day, with mid 80s on an average day. And occasionally I can put together a really good round.
I don’t have the time to really try to become a low handicapper again. I made the effort back in college and I know what it takes to start shedding strokes sub-80 rounds.

You’re right.
I would have to practice instead of playing 9 after work.

Golf is streaky.
I once read a stat that even the pros make 80% of a years my money during a 7 week stretch sometime during the season. Think about how many guys on tour are hot as hell for a stretch but then fade back.
If it happens to them it certainly happens to us, only worse.

Finished strong today: par, par, birdie for 40.
That is a good round for me, especially lately. Putting was the difference.
I’m going to spend more time putting and chipping.

I'm terrible but I just shot 90 after shooting 105 a couple weeks ago. Main differences:
1) Swung about 60% w/ my driver. Sure they go 250 instead of 300, but I hit maybe 1 unplayable drive vs. 9 in my 105 round
2) Chipping. I had maybe 1 god awful chip where I basically had to hit a second shot from the same spot. Probably had 6 or 7 last time
That's pretty much it. Still didn't make a putt outside of 6 feet and I hit PLENTY of embarrassing shots but the vast majority were still playable so they didn't kill me.

Yup. If he’s swinging 60% and he still hits it 250yds then 100% would be well over 300yds.
I didn’t know that DJ posted on here. Lol.

Practice chipping, it’s the thing that requires the most feel and the most reps. Your game will return.
Also try standing closer or further away, sometimes it’s a little tweak that fixes all.

It’s amazing how such small changes in setup can torpedo a swing

Pick a target and don’t switch clubs until you hit 10 shots I’m a row at said target.
If this was the goal then I’d hit a large bucket of balls with the same club.

What usually happens to me is I'll take a break for months at a time and the 1st round I play is always pretty good, but after that my game goes down the gutter.

I am still struggling.
I think I’m going to spend some time with our pro.

I was playing a casual round with my golf buddies a few weeks ago, starting shanking and all hell broke loose. Worst feeling in the world(at least the golf world)
