Really agree.

Cam Smith and DJ hurt the most of guys actively playing. Koepka and Bryson… meh.

I hate what Phil has become now too after he won the PGA. He could have been the man and made so much money in speaking fees, broadcast etc. Short sighted move for him imo

The PGA Tour is worse off without Cam Smith, DJ, Bryson, Koepka, Phil, Gooch, Niemann, Reed, Ancer, Bubba, Wolff… Pereira and Young rumored.

Of all these names Cam Smith is the only one I’d consider a truly major loss. DJ and Bryson are close.

The rest of those guys are either not marketable or completely unlikeable like Reed. Ancer and niemann have some game, but they don’t move the needle for golf tournaments.

I suspect Phil needed the reported money he got up front to pay off his gambling bets.

Phil is the biggest name that would be missed. Like it or not he is a huge eyeball getter. Cam is a good player, but he doesn’t bring the “interest” factor like Phil. The rest of the clowns are unforgettable.

Yeah I’m sure that was part of it.

DJ was suspended multiple times for drug use.

Who gives a frick? Multiple major winner. Won every single year on tour until this year. Has easily 5+ high level years left.

Brooks is always hurt and is the least marketable guy you mentioned

Only a few years removed from one of the most dominant major stretches golf has ever seen. Only 32. Don’t give a frick about his marketability. As a fan of PGA Tour golf it sucks to lose him.
quote:

Gooch couldn’t be picked out a lineup by half the people in this thread maybe more.

I don’t give a frick. I do know who he is.
quote:

Bryson has already missed a ton of events for being hurt which is what was thought of when he started this speed training.

So he will be hurt forever? Are we calling it a career for him at 28 or do you think maybe he can figure it out?
quote:

Wolff has shot more 80s than 60s this season.

So should we call it a career for him at 23 or does he get a chance to fix things?

The PGATour is just fine and didn’t lose a lot.

I don’t care about the PGA Tour “the business.” I care about how this affects me as a fan. And it sucks.

It sounds like we are talking about different things. I don’t have any concerns about the long term viability of the PGA Tour, nor do I care about any players marketability or how much they “move the needle.”

I only care about the fan experience and the fact that all of these players will only get together at the 4 majors (if that). That sucks.

Those guys are definitely major losses. Bryson draws eyes regardless of how well liked he is and DJ was probably the 2nd best player of the last 10 years on Tour

You said you could beat anyone. But let’s not let facts get in the way of your trolling.

And he’s also said golf doesn’t really matter to him and that he would rather play football. He moves the meter 0 for me.

Especially if they don’t get OWGR which i doubt they do. The PGA will be absolutely fine.

The problem is this will take years to determine. When they reject the lawsuits will fly. And there are good arguments on both sides.

That meeting wasn’t where this extra money and elevated events came from. He has been trying to get money for that.

Then why did he turn down the proposal from the players last year? They brought the money.
