Don't do it. A 4 HC means you average barely breaking 80. Get to a +4 HC then repost this question. Even then, the answer is probably no. Leave it to pros and school golfers.

That's not that big of a deal. I know a guy that dualified for that a few years back and he can bearly break 80. I win money off of him on the reg.

-2 is the usual score to qualify...

All depends on the golf course. Even will get in some places. -4 won't get in some places

If you want to take it seriously, look up qualifiers in different states to find the best set up for your game. I knew guys from South Florida that would fly out to qualify in a state like Idaho that had been covered in snow the preceding two months because none of the local golfers had been able to practice, making the qualifying scores higher.

So he lied about his score to qualify? I bet he was the guy in the tournament that shot +15 or more each day.

Most qualify shooting even or under. Usually from 6900+ yards as well.

If I see a name on a bag I automatically associate it with being good at golf. If I happen to see you duck hook your first drive off of the first tee, then you're just pretentious in my mind.

I think you're confusing the USGA Mid-Am for the LGA Mid-Am

At this rate, I do expect to be scratch in a few months

I was a 3.8 awhile back, and never could get it lower. Good luck, its a tough feat to get to scratch, especially playing once a week due to kids, etc. Hope you get there.

Always thought of the name on the bag as a tour thing, but hell, people monogram everything these days.

My buddy has a big white staff bag with “Judge Smails” embroidered on it.

I have my name on mine and I'm a 7. Don't see why it would be a bad thing. I actually think its pretty cool. I'll put it on my next bag too.

No I'm not. He qualified for the US Mid Am. Just saying he is not that great. It's really not that big of a deal. I'm sure there a bunch of people that post here that have done similar.

Keep sticking it to your guns. Considering the winner gets an exemption to the Masters and the US Open, I’d argue differently. But your buddy might have career’d it for a round and gotten in. But getting into a USGA event is a pretty big deal.

It's a big deal to win but to be one of the 250 or so that qualifies every isn't that big of a deal for better players. Like I said, I'm sure there are people that post here that have made it to usga events.

Let's break this down. The 250 man field starts as a roughly 5000 man field broken up over 65 qualifying sites. That's the top 5% of just the mid-ams who thought they were good enough to try and qualify.

FWIW.. I've beaten some "pros" and college golfers in the last few months...

I shot a 77 today only hitting 6 greens too. So short game is coming back... just need to firm some things up before I hit up some tournaments here again in a few weeks.

Gotta love living in Florida.

Hit up the US Mid Am. It'll be a good tune up for your city match play later this year.
