Is it pretentious to get your name put on your golf bag if you’re a 4 handicap?

Asking for a friend...

But, no, seriously... birthday is coming up and wife wants to do that for me... but I don’t know how I feel about it. I’ve broken through a couple of times and won some tournaments in the last couple of months... but still feels pretentious to me. At this rate, I do expect to be scratch in a few months. Shaving these last few strokes off is daunting.

Just wanted to know how you TDers felt about that.

TIA.

Unless these were on a professional tour, I wouldn't do it

You are asking us, because your brain is saying do it but your gut says doesn’t. Trust your gut.

I don’t see a problem.

Who cares?

It does come across that you may take your golf game a little too seriously but it wouldn’t bother me too much. Congrats on the 4 hcp

Only people I've seen do this are high school or college kids on their schools team. I've never seen an adult feel the need to do this.

My Dad did it for me as a birthday present....new Callaway staff bag, name embroidered. Initially it was a little awkward but frick what strangers think, my Pops bought that for me. I rocked it until I changed out the Callaway irons.

In your case? Stop worrying about what other people think. If you like it and she has her heart set on doing it, rock on bro.

No

If you are not a PGA pro, collegiate golfer or playing pro, don’t do it.

If you feel the need, have it on a staff bag that you keep at the office, home office, etc. and jeepnsoare clubs and balls there.

Does it help if I've played in a "professional" event as an amateur? Does that justify it?

I also plan on doing so more often when I get the confidence from all of these damn changes I made.

This year could be huge for me. Making qualifying for the USGA Mid-Am the biggest goal.

-2 is the usual score to qualify...

So congrats on that.

Make the cut to make it to the match play section?

All depends on the golf course. Even will get in some places. -4 won't get in some places

Unfortunately no. Hit a couple loose iron shots that killed me
